I know you probably need custom firmware (I don't have it) but is it possible? Like zelda is about 25 MB. that can fit in a PSP memory card but how would the controls work? AGH! Has it already been done? N64 games on PSP!

It is but they run ever so ****tily right now, I think Mario 64 runs perfectly though. Still I'd like Mischief Makers, Sin and Punishment, Ban-gai-o, and Paper Mario to work before I give it another shot. Google Daedalus PSP for more info.

I think somewhere in the vast abyss of the interenets there is a Playstation one emulator for the PSP, so I do think it is possible for there to be an N64 one.

The PS1 emulator is already built into the PSP by Sony, they just suck ass at getting the games up on PSN for us to purchase so we've been able to rip our own for a while now. 4.01 added some compatibility with games that crashed or messed up before, so now I can play Persona 2 on my PSP perfectly and Xenogears as well. Also if you have the memory card reader for PS3 or PS1 saves on your PS3, you can transfer them to your PSP so you don't have to start again. This helped SO MUCH with Vagrant Story, Legend of Mana, and Saga Frontier 2.

Start here:

http://pspupdates.qj.net/ best site/community imo for PSP homebrew and emulation

The best N64 emulator is Daedalus, while it has made incredible strides in the past 18 months it still is slow for many games, for the past 6 or so months they've been working on their next release which should be impressive

Exactly.

I run Daedalus v13 (latest) on my PSP Fat and my PSP Slim, as long as you turn off the sound the games run smooth. It is said that in v14 the sound will be allright also. I have played Mario and a couple of other games in the N64 emu. QJ.net is indeed the best site for things like that.

Also try the NES, SNES, Sega Megadrive emu!

I'd assume Mystery wants you to map out what PSP buttons take on the functions of N64 buttons... Like what button on the PSP corresponds to the Z button, what corresponds to the C buttons etcetera... Ya get me?

Well I've just booted Daedalus v13 and am running Mario 64 now, this is what each button does:

X = jump
[ ] = hit
/\ = duck

Analog stick = move/walk around

arrow buttons make you zoom/rotate
start = start/pause
select = go back to emu
right shoulder button = easy zoom

Enough info on the buttons?

Thanks!  That sums it up quite nicely, actually. I do wonder how a game like Ocarina of Time would work on it, however. The N64 pad has more buttons than the PSP...

Well I ran Ocarina of Time, although between loading it gives a strange graphical error, the game runs. Its not the most smooth game on the emu, but it runs rather ok.

You can get the PSP Dpad to correspond to the N64 Dpad, and then the crross/square/traingle/circlo to match the A/B/L/R N64 buttons, if you hold down the PSP left trigger the cross etc buttons change to N64 Cbuttons.

You can also change that setup. I ran Ocarina, then came to the first saving point, but strangely I can only confirm save and not return to the game. Maybe I use the wrong button combination, and maybe it has a shortage of buttons/right one. Not sure yet. If someone can fill me in (its not my kind of game, only play the old Marios) do so
