News story taken off front page, why? - Apr.-5th-2008 19:30:48

My story was taken off the front page! It is at 670 and is only 17 hrs old. It has no reports and it still says its up. When you goto "today's hottest stories it is number 3, but it is not on the front page! here's a link to the story http://www.n4g.com/industrynews/News-131430.aspx

It is some what odd, perhaps an Admin did it. Moderators don't have the power to take things off the front page like that, they can fail them but since it wasn't it must of been an admin thing or some little known N4G peramiter.

Well my story is now in 4th place (due to being off the front page), but it is still not back up there, check "today's hottest stories" and compare the top stories to the front page top stories and you will see that while my story "Interesting Resistance 2 Screenshots on Gamestop" is the 4th hottest story it is not on the front page.

What would be the reason for an Admin to take it off?

I had a story up that hit 800 in 7 hours and had a 140 comments with no reports and next to no flaming in the comment section. It was taken down and now has a failed approval. And in my forum post "Can I get a reason why" a mod said he failed it because it was a duplicate and it was not. So mods apparently can take things down off the front page by failing them.

The wierd thing was that it wasn't failed. I checked. It just got taken off.

As default a story will be able to be featured in the top section for a maximum of 24 hours. However we do often review the news which are featured and do sometimes remove stories before the 24 hour time limit. The reason for this can be many. For example if a rumor has been proven to be wrong, we might add an update to the story but remove it from the top spot, or somtimes we just want to make room for more important stories.

it gets taken off because there are other hot news out there so it overtakes ur story
