So on the front page, I see a lot of nice articles with information on "trophys." That's great. I wasn't aware gamers were illiterate. Anyway, I understand the retroactive situation fully. It's better this way, otherwise people will just cheat like hell. However, I'm still wondering how one would go about unlocking trophies with a game they already have a save file for. What I'm hoping is, if a requirement for a trophy is met after the game is patched, whether the game file existed before or not, it would trigger a trophy unlock. That would mean (for example) when you get to the Emblems page in MGS4, all the emblems you unlocked on that particular run would trigger a trophy, and all the other ones you have (but did not unlock on that run) would still be locked as trophies. In other words, I could reload my old save games and re-get the trophies by playing to the emblem screen, which seems fair to me, since all the save files available online would not get to the emblem page to unlock trophies (they are all game clear data I assume). I hope it works this way. If I require a clean save file, fresh with zero-everything, I'll pass. I'll start "trophy collecting" with the newer titles, then.
