This is why people who say that us Sony owners are being Hippocrates over gamerscore/trophies are wrong:

http://www.sony-playstation.cz/news.php?extend.2416

It's one thing to have an ongoing number that could mean anything, like you are good, or u just played a lot of games and got all the easy ones.

It's another to show the trophies ranks(Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze) AND what each one is...there were some names by them so we all know what you actually have done...i might go back and play Uncharted to pick up on them.

All the PS3 owner who had a go at gamerscore before will love this. I'll e playing all my PS3 games again to get a few trophies, it adds to their replay value and you end up with more for your money. Let hope they get inventive with them and dont go for boring ones. See 'little rocket man' on the orange box for a great example of a good acheivement

exactly..especially for online games, i used to just rush through single player just so i could say i finished it and then i would live online.  I think Burnout Paradise and EA have been on the trophies/achievement deal for a while, b/c it was the first ps3 game i had with achievements that were locked to your ID, so you cant trade game saves.

It's nice, and I couldn't possibly complain about a feature being added, but I honestly am not that bothered either way. I always thought the people who find the Gamerscore thing addicting have a serious e-peen confidence issue, it just never appealed to me. I almost felt as if all my games had become somewhat of a level grind, as if I'm not just playing for fun, but to look better in comparison to others, but not in a competitive way, either.

I know the trophies will be a little bit better and not the same as that, but in the end, it's all the same. But like I said, it's not possibly going to make it worse, quite the opposite for some, so I'll stop complaining.

but it makes games more fun, sometimes i do stuff like that just so i could know that i did it....like in the nba 2k games, i would play the special games between the lakers and heat, and rivals like that just so i could get the trophy in the case, not b/c everyone can see it, b/c i didnt really show it to everyone.  That's not the best example, but the trophys for blocks in a game and stuff like that...rivalry trophies in NCAA Football, heisman, and all the other player trophies you get...not to mention the bowl game trophies.

It gives you more of a reason to play through games...i know a ton of people that didnt play through the single player in COD4, and that wasnt even that long, but for a trophy, they might just go there

Do we really need a my achievements are cooler than your achievements theme?  I don't really see how this is better than what is on the 360 or vice versa really and to say there is would be just fanning the fire

The concept is more evolutive thank to the level up system. It feels even more rewarding.

I know, I suppose I just play games for different reasons than you do. You play them for fun and sense of achievement, which is great, but I just want to wind down and relax when I play games. I'm not saying I don't want it, if anything, I'm glad the PS3's getting it, it just doesn't appeal to me that much, personally. But I can fully understand why it would appeal to you, and countless others.

I really like the leveling up system.  But now I have to stop any single player campaign and play solely online until all the games patch.  Even my replay through MGS4.  I want to be able to get the trophies for the work i'm putting in now.

Gamers don't have a problem with the feature itself. Its the fact that Sony had to copy someone else to do it. Sony has a reputation for this too.

:)

Rumble? Nintendo -> Sony.

Analog stick? Nintendo -> Sony.

Online? Seganet -> Xbox live -> PSN (Sony)

News/Weather Channels? Nintendo -> Sony.

Achievments? Microsoft -> Sony.

radio->transistor? ___ -> Sony.

I'm sorry that was actually funny.

If another company does the same thing it doesn't make the first company any more right in what they are doing. And besides I have a feeling Sony is making a motion controller as well.

lol... still funny...

By that "outstanding logic" we could say the xbox is a copy altogether...

sony already has a motion sensor controller

And analog was done a long time ago with computer games and such, it was gonna happen eventually...ps2 was released b4 xbox, and ps2 had online gaming b4 the xbox was released. So PSN was just the name sony decided to call its online service.  Sony only put in achievements and such b/c the fans cried and complained about it along with in game xmb, which is similar to 360 dashboard.

Saying sony steals ideas is similar to saying all pc's stole their ideas from IBM or whoever the first was.  The same goes for everything in life, football teams start adapting new formations and such b/c they see someone else do it and it works well.  Same for every sport.  It's bound to happen, you take the best of what everyone else has, and put it in your stuff to make ur stuff better...

i just stole what you wrote and put it in my post...muhaahahahahahahaha
