So what types of games did everyone play when they were kids?

I used to play Magic the Gathering a lot from 6th grade to 8th grade. I hear they have online versions of the game now. I forget the type of deck/cards I had... but I still have them in a box somewhere.

I also used to play with Pogs... if anybody remembers those. I think I may still have those around somewhere too.

What other type of "fad" games did people play when they were kids?

yeah pogs were big when i was a kid, never got into it.... we always played hacky sack at recess in school when we couldnt go outside, but other than nes/genesis i was more outdoors oriented, riding dirtbikes and whatnot

we used to play this game where we would go as far as we could without touching the ground via climbing from tree to tree. Like monkeys.

My outdoor games included pretending we (my friend and I) were super soldiers and took toy guns, spraypainted them and went into the woods and shot other people (imaginary) and aliens and stuff.

We would also ride our bikes all over the neighborhood, and to neighborhoods way far away.

I dont think I ever remember anyone being fat, or even close to it when I was younger... EVERYONE rode there bike.

I grew up in a trailer park in the middle of nowhere and everyone rode dirt bikes and wheelers all the time. Didn't matter how old you were. The really young kids got those little 50cc mini bikes. People got hurt, but that was just part of growing up. Everyone's so overprotective now.

no, not off topic... just kinda a nostalgia thread on when we were all kids and how things were compared to now...

meant it more as a "we actually did physical activity when we were kids vs. the lack of activity kids do now" thread

We played "fight each other to near death" outside. Lots of teeth loss, eye damages, head injuries, and other various bodily harm was had between all of us. Also we had this like 3 week long war going on with all the kids in the neighborhood.

I don't even know what the true objectives were but it consisted of a laser tag battle with my cousins and some kids across the street. Then other kids wanted in but they didn't have the laser tag sets so we swapped them out for lowtech super soakers, which we still outclassed everyone with (200s were the SHIT).

Other than that it was tag, night tag and its variant flashlight tag, hide and seek (and the ever awesome hide and go get it hehehe), king of the hill, warball, smeer the queer, make me laugh, the dozens, and shinkicker (ran out of ideas to inflict pain on one another). Actually we played night tag for my 22nd bday and all of us were drunk running around the parking lot at my house trying to tag each other. It was great fun, also there was a big wheel involved.

Board games were played only when we were tired of video games or didn't feel like going outside, but they usually ended up in some evil words exchanged due to people cheating and making unholy alliances in Monopoly.
