Not in their style, combat, or characters do the games relate; It's the feeling. Not since the original God of War (and DMC1 before it) have I felt like such a badass. Not since the original God of War has my jaw dropped to the floor in the pure awesomeness of what was on screen before me. Maybe this was just due to the fact that I'm not following the game religiously, so nearly everything I did in the demo was new to me, but the fact remains that Bayonetta is a great action game. The combat is incredibly fluid, and surprisingly deep, with a huge number of combos and torture traps to perform. I was expecting to roll my eyes at the sexualized aspect of the game, but it was tastefully done, and, dare I say, actually added to the game. They added it in a way where its not over the top (you can't make anything jiggle with the Six-Axis), and blends the epic moves and blatant sexualtity of the main character. Its hard to explain; it just works. What was once a tiny blip on my radar is now one of my most anticipated games. If you're a fan of action games (the DMC series in particular), I recommend you go download the demo off the Japanese PS Store immediately, and hopefully you get the same feeling I did after going through it.

Not Ninja Gaiden II but the first game on the original Xbox or the first Sigma on PS3. That game not only made you feel like a badass but you could not just button mash like in God of War.

Either way I'm in the process of downloading the demo for Bayonetta and all the game play I have seen so far blows me away so I cannot wait to play it.

I've played both NG games, and I thought they were good, but neither gave me that same feeling I had described in my impressions. Of course, its all just a matter of opinion. In any case, I hope you enjoy the demo as much as I did! ; )

I was very pleased by the demo. Over the top violence and sexiness which makes for a fun game. Fighting reminds of a mix between Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry. I would of had a better time if I knew the combos better. Since I was mainly button mashing lol. Art style is cool and action is top notch. Ill probably pick this game up when it goes to the $40 range.

 

It's not better than God of War, it's a great game but it doesn't take the cake.

Hey all.  

I created a Japanese account early in the week just to get this demo.   My verdict ?    I liked it a lot !   I was watching DMC4 gameplay from YouTube and realized how slow Nero and Dante fights.   When I saw video of this demo in TGS 09 on YouTube and in the first trailer, I was worried about that similar slow speed with Bayonetta, but let me tell you, I'm loving this ! 

I know it's being developed by Sega or converted as the demo suggests.  But the gameplay is tight, insane, and just fun ! Ultimately I have no problems with it.  :)
