I believe PS2 games on the PS3 will drive sales of the PS3 even higher. I'm assuming SONY makes a pretty good profit off the PS2, but they're supposedly focusing on making the PS3 profitable. If they can make PS2 games on the PSN available for all systems, wouldn't more people buy the PS3 instead of the PS2? It's a good thing that SONY has shown so much loyalty to the PS2, but when is it time to cut the chord and just focus on the PS3? If they make a large library of PS2 games available on the PSN, I personally believe many of the millions of PS2 owners who haven't made the jump, would do so. Just my two cents.

They'd need a hell of a lot of bandwidth on those servers.
Ps2 games 4gb a pop, thousands of downloads, Ouch!

sony should just buy tuns of servers and put them under ground somewhere, then release all the top ps2 games, all top movies made by sony (which there are tuns of), then release all the top ps1 games then finally sell music produced by sony ( which there are also tuns of). then they will make lots and lot of money and then we get a big price cut

Why would you download PS2 games from the PSN store when you can buy them pretty much everywhere for 20$,
So I don't believe your scenario would drive sales, considering this is already possible just in disk format.

On a side note I have never really understood the concern, I have been a long time Sony consumer, and a Sony fan but if they went bankrupt tomorrow I wouldent care. Its not like I own part of the company, I would just simply buy a different system to play games.

I don't know if it would be cost effective for Sony. It would require a lot of time and money to make a PS2 game run on a 40gb model, full software emulation is required.

We might see select, popular PS2 titles, that will sell.

They can't drop PS2 its too successful. Lol @ the people who think Sony supports all of their consoles for 10 years. The winning console always stays around into the next generation. PS2,PS1, SNES, NES, Atari 2600
