Just ordered the following components...

Core i7 920 D0 stepping
Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 mobo
XFX ATI 4890 XXX 1GB GPU
6GB OCZ 1333MHz 7-7-7-20 Platinum XTC RAM
1000W Coolermaster Realpower modular PSU
Pioneer BDC-202 BluRay ROM / DVD-RW
Coolermaster HAF 922 case
Noctua NH-U12P CPU cooler
1TB Seagate Barracuda
WiFi card

Already got:
Samsung Synchmaster T240HD panel
Logitech G5 mouse
Microsoft 7000 Bluetooth keyboard

I've been anti-PC gaming for a few years now, but recently got the itch to build a new rig again .  I'd have preferred to wait a bit to see what happens with the Intel Core i chips, Windows 7 and DX11 GPU's - but the laptop I use every day has started to overheat, so I thought what the hell - let's get me some PC gaming goodness!

Some of the bits - like the PSU are hugely overkill for the rig, but I got a sweet deal on that PSU, and it leaves me headroom to add another couple of GPU's in the future.

If anyone is interested in a step by step guide on building a rig, I'd be happy to photo my build and stick it on a Google site or something.

Heh

I'm kinda speechless!  Are you sure there's only four PC's in there?!?

This was one of my earlier builds (circa 2005) - I got more questions about the girl in the calendar than the PC!

This is what I'm planning to get.

No case yet, any ideas that would fit all that would be much appreciated. Trying to look for the black edition of the xfx 4890 or sapphire's atomic/toxic 4890. What do you guys think.

Biostar nforce 720a Mobo
Phenom II 720X3@3.7Ghz
western digital green 500GB 32 meg cache HD
Evga 8800Gts 512 (g92)
2gigs ocz platinum ddr2 1066

The 8800gts 512 is a 9800gtx with slightly slower memory this system scores me 16,265 on mark06 with a single GPU and runs crysis maxed out without shudder very smooth. http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=11353956
I didnt have to break the bank either I have built 12 similar machines for friends co-workers but with 4 gigs of ram and a 9800gtx Most of them score 16,800to17,000 on mark06 and got thier whole setup for under $700 I love the price wars right now;}
