Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 ghz 4 gb 2x2 Corsair DDR2 800(Only 3 gb useable due to 32 bit OS ) 150 gb Western Digital Raptor 10,000 RPM gaming HDD (Good for fast OS boot too ) 320 gb WD Passport external drive for my media until I decide to put in a more permanent solution. 2 x EVGA Geforce 8800 GT 512 MB SLI Windows XP Pro (Damn 64 bit Vista Home Premium OEM disc installs but the system won't boot from HDD ) Playing on my 32" 720p HDTV. Real monitors have better resolution, but this looks good enough and is good for framerates. ) On board HD Audio is good enough for me. One tax return well spent if you ask me.

Just built it a few months ago Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.00Ghz Gigabythe P35-DQ6 (yes the one with THE monster cooling system) 4GB of Dual Channel DDR2 Patriot Extreme RAM OCZ StealthXEtreme OCZ600SXS Nvidia GeForce 8800GTS SC Samsung SpinPoint T Series HD501LJ 500GB (and a old Seagate of 250GB) As how the performance goes? lets say I can run Crysis at MAX on DX9 and with some tweaks on DX10, other games like COD4, UT3 and pretty much every single game I have tested it runs at the highest settings and res possible the only thing I might consider upgrading is the videocard

Heres the specs of the PC i just finnished building/upgrading. Asus Striker II Formula nForce 780i SLI Mainboard Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 @ 4.167GHz 1333FSB 12MB L2 Cache (OC) Tagan BZ 1,300 Watts Power Supply Corsair 1333Mhz Ram, 12 GB (2 x 4 GB + 2 x 2 GB dimms) 2 x 300GB Seagate Cheetah 10,000RPM HDD, (RAID 0) 2 x 750GB SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 16MB Cache 7200RPM HDD, (RAID 0) 3 x NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2 1GB 16X PCI Express (Tripple SLi) 28" TFT Active Matrix LCD Display (ViewSonic) Vista Ultimate 64bit Asetek Liquid CPU Cooling System + 4 x 120mm fans System currently runs Crysis fully maxed settings (DX10, 16x AA) Runs an average of 61 FPS @ 16x AA (good enough, untill i overclock my 9800's) with overclock on 9800's i expect to be making average of 65+ P.S. i work for FTC computers, so system total was $8,400 (would have been a few grand more otherwise) Also as a note the system runs the exact same FPS with only the 2 x 2 GB dimms (totaling 4 GB) ... so if anyones wondering how much ram they need for Crysis, then 4 GB is pleanty .... and the CPU overclock made very little difference in games (big difference in Video editing)

Super nerd. And you probably ended up spending $2500 on that needlessly. I'm gunna build me a Phenom 4X based on the ASUS M3N-HT with the Mempipe. Sucker!

Yeah I did spend about 2500 on it, so what. It's worth every penny and it handles all my gaming needs. The system I did want to build would have ran me over 5k so this new rig is toned down to what I really wanted. So why did you call me a super nerd? There is nothing wrong with my set up. Hater AMD sucks balls now so I didn't bother with the Phenom. To me, buying a Phenom would have been a waste.

Go with EVGA on the Video Card. They will take that card within 90 days of purchase if something better comes out and all you pay is the difference. Also you might want to consider the 9800GX2, for about 150 more you get the power of 2 cards in one.

I'll keep EVGA in mind for now. I won't get the 9800GX2 since it's using a lot of power and the 9800+ will have physx support via the gpu making things a whole lot easier. It just sucks I have to wait until the 16th for the new cards.
