Re:Q The Crew 2009 Edition - Tuesday, September 29, 2009 10:55 AM
Hey guys.
I wanted to know your opinions on the subject of questionable content in gaming. What I don't understand is, how we in America can play every uber-violent game on the planet. Yet,some people lose their damn minds when they find out some tits(or something) show up in a game. I personally find it as no difference. Both are mature themes and should only be viewed and played by adults anyway. So, why do you all think people get bent out of shape for nudity or swearing even? I also notice there is quite a double standard when this standard transfers over to movies. Honestly, whats the difference? What's the difference from us and say Japan?  I don't view the fact that you play out games and merely watch movies as a real difference(exposure is exposure imo). Adults can watch adult movies with no real issue but the ESRB will flex their muscle everytime any kind of nudity and give the dev a hard time. I thought this would be an interesting topic for the show.

I also have another question but i'll save it for later because this question took me forever to spit out =P

Re:Q The Crew 2009 Edition - Tuesday, September 29, 2009 1:24 PM

Hey crew. Drew here from well, you guys know but I'm gonna plug it anyways Evolved Gaming Podcast and Rage Quit Radio on JustinTV :) Anyway, I know I mainly talk to you guys on Twitter, but I figured I'd post a message the old fashion way on your forums. Notice my post count? Yeah kinda low yet I have been a user here longer than most. Even Cat, if I'm not mistaken :P But enough talk, have at you!

Question 1:
If you were stranded on an island...oh never mind that one.
Question 2: Do you have any type of ritual that you do before you get into your gaming session? I personally can't play a game without first washing my hands. I know it sounds strange, but I can't handle a controller with greasy/dirty hands.

Question 3: Every knows the famous special moves from Street Fighter and King of Fighters such as Hadouken and Hurricane Upper. I had invented a special move in high school called Hyper Elbow where i basically thrust my elbow into a person's face as I yell "Hyper Elbow!" because everyone knows, you HAVE to say/yell the name of the move as you're performing it. So, what I'd would like you guys to do is create your own unique fighting special attack. What would you call it? how would you execute it? and most importantly, how would you yell it?

Question 4: I want you to look to the person to your left and describe him...dammitt, you've answered that one a million times too. (and yes, I know. I have used that joke once before but it was like a year ago.)

Question 5: Because I podcast and to be honest, you guys were one of the inspirations for me to start the hobby to begin with, I want to know what got you into podcasting/internet radio to begin with. I know Zero had a show before ZTGamedomain podcast and I think Gambus may have helped out with it a little.(I can't really remember)

Question 6: Zero, you do realize you totally stole the idea for the video gameplay stuff from Rage Quit Radio, don't you? I'm waiting for my check in the mail.

Question 7: This has probably been asked before, but if you could go back and experience a game fresh, without any memory or knowledge of it what game would that be? For me, Metal Gear Solid. Somehow, I never guessed that Miller was really Liquid in disguise and when he revealed himself I was totally shocked. That moment was one of the stand-outs for me in gaming.

Question 8: I know Gambus will have a lot to say in this topic and once again, it's probably been asked before, but what game in you opinion, has the best soundtrack? We all love the 8-bit tunes of yester years and even some modern games have shined with fantastic musical scores. ODST and Wet stand out to me. How about you guys?

Question 9: Last question fellas, home stretch. The "gaming culture" that you guys as well as myself are into is finally starting to become "mainstream" for years people who were into video games were usually looked to be a geek. Now it has become somewhat acceptable. Still some find it childish even though they have a Wii in their living room just so they can play "that bowling game" My question is this, in your personal life, are you still reluctant to tell "non-gaming" people about you favorite hobby? Let's say you go to a friend’s wedding and you are meeting people that you have never met. Do you bring up gaming at all when asked "what are you into?" For some reason, it feel somewhat taboo to go into details about gaming to non-gamers yet they will sit there and talk to you about the big Georgia/Florida game last night all with stats, names of players, and plays. Hell, with all that stat tracking they may as well be playing a RPG. So, to reiterate the question, are you guys still reluctant to discuss gaming related talk to the non-gamer person?

Thanks for your time. You guys have always and will always rock. I started listening at episode 11 and will continue to listen to you guys each week until you quit. Thanks for the plug and catch you guys online some time.

SO! what do you guys think? will the IPhone become a big part of gaming?

I will answer this for you. Now, repeat after me... The iPhone is an emerging platform. With high quality games and variable price points, there are more than I can keep up with. ZTGD/N4G is proud to feature multiple iPhone reviews every week. ;)

Hey, thanks ZT for helping me find this thread. I admit I was having a blonde moment. I am a big fan of the podcast and gave it 5 stars on iTunes, you should too (brownie points ftw). I have a lot of questions, so you can expect to see me in the coming weeks.

Q1 - Do you think Brutal Legend will be better than Batman: AA?

Q2 - I'm going to list two games, and you tell me which one you want the most...
Elder Scrolls V or Fallout 4
Resident Evil 6 or Dead Space 3
GRAW 3 or Rainbow Six Vegas 3
Rock Band 3 or Guitar Hero 6
Halo 4 or (Halo) Reach 2 OR (Halo) ODST 2 (think what happened with the CoD and MW name)

Q3 - What is your favorite cookie?

Q4 - Is the Soundboard fixed? If not, are we going to have to start fining you until it gets fixed?

Q5 - Whats your favorite MLB team (My two favorite teams are in the playoffs :D)?

Sup guys, hope you're having another "intersesting" podcast.

If you made your own console, what would it be called? What colour would it be? And who would be your representative (i.e. Billy Mays, Vince, Solid Snake, Samuel L Jackson, the creepy baby from the old PS3 commercials, etc)

Also, as anyone could notice, you guys make a considerable amount of Family Guy references.  What do you guys think about American Dad, and if any of you have seen the premiere of The Cleveland Show, what are your thoughts of it?

Hey, it's me again. I just wanted to get one more question out there. As you probably don't know, last weeks episode of joystiqs 'Xbox 360 Fancast' was one of their hosts, Dustin Burg, last episode with the podcast. Are any of you planning on leaving the podcast?

Re:Q The Crew 2009 Edition - Wednesday, October 07, 2009 1:15 PM
hey crew, wasabi peas are great.

that said, i have a question about video game aesthetics.

having played through ODST and now playing Batman I've noticed a similar feature of both games that kind of annoys me. when i played the demo of Batman the only thing that stuck out to me as a possible hang up was the detective vision. i still bought the full game and love it but im still a bit miffed by the advantages detective vision provides the player ie. giving incentive to constantly use it. yes, i love seeing through walls but i do not like blue Batman vision. it gives the game a really generic color scheme and washes out textures. I don't want to play this way but see the game wants you to.
similarly, ODST takes place mostly in dark environments where you need to use the suit-vision or whatever it is (by pressing X). This also annoyed me because i want to see the game but also see my objectives. I ended up using that vision for a lot of the game except for the streets and highway of course.

Now that was all set up for my questions:

1. do these visual devices bother any of you? and can you name a few others that use a visual device that changes a players' perspective or the game aesthetics entirely.

2. should their be an achievement for playing through without 'special vision'?

3. if you were designing these games would you focus the use of these items by forcing the player to use them for certain sections where it makes sense or would you leave it open ended as in ODST/Batman allowing players to freely choose how much or little of the game he or she wants to see while using these visual alterations?

ps. im friends with zero and mr. wolverine on live but id also like to add y'all to my psn friends to maybe get in some uncharted multi with ya. im Beastern on PSN too (rickricardo on live) so if you see a mssg from me feel free to accept or DENY!!
also want to play some of yall in SFIV...i will dominate with the red cyclone!

oh yeah another question:
what do you think of Juri? she kinda looks similar to rose if ya ask me but her ultra looks cool as all get out.
i feel like they should offer Super as DLC to IV - i know you discussed it today but im shocked too.

Thanks as always.
this is my favorite gaming podcast, keep up the great work! you guys are in-de-struc-table...

hey n4g radio crew gotta Q for you

on the podcast on 10/5 you said that valve sucks for making the crash course dlc for l4d cost money on 360.
this isnt true, microsoft is what makes the decision about what costs money and what doesnt. valve said they would make it free if they could because thats what they have been doing with every multiplayer game on pc they have ever made but microsoft love being ****s and charge money for otherwise free dlc.

so my question is, did you know that? (im guessing you didnt, and i just wanted to inform you about it)

I attempted to read through the whole thread... I didn't make it.  But I hope no one has asked this question/s.

One- If you were all the rulers of the universe/world... what would be your 10 commandments, so to speak?
Two- Favorite Coen Bros. movie?
Three- Describe your ideal gaming console- what it would include, sizes, stats, anything like that.

what it do n4g crew ShOt here with some new Qs for you.

First off before i start, around this time about 2 years ago i started listening to the show. when i first tuned in i thought that it was a podcast about a few guys that had alot of free time and played video games. And i pleased to say that in two years, nothing has changed. Good times gentalmen keep it up.

And now for our featured presentation.......

Q1. will it be a sad day when gaming gets too mainstream?

Q2. when the next gen consoles roll in, do you think that fanboyism will get better or worse?

Q3. what type of gamer has the most power, console or PC gamers?    (and by "power" i mean overall say in the gaming industry)

Q4. whats your zombie plan? For example, mine is gathering all my guns and barracade myself in a coastco. (keep in mind this is for long term survival and not fighting through a small town to get to a certan point of escape like in left 4 dead)

Q5. im kinda of a car guy so i was woundering what kind of car or truck yall might have?

Q6. how long would the show last if gambus wasnt their?

Q7. when was the last time killerwolverine broke something?

Q8. we all know that ZT is irish and KW is a raging italian, but what of the other two in the crew?
im germexican (german/mexican) so the idea of eating a taco with an octoberfest sized beer dosnt bother me at all.

so till next time guys. later

Re:Q The Crew 2009 Edition - Saturday, October 10, 2009 9:08 PM
Okay, so I watched The Last Dragon based on your recomendations, and loved it.  This leads to my question:  If Gambus was one day killed by the best Karate/Ninja/Samurai/Pirate in the world would you....

(Everyone in the room pick their personal choice)

A).  Forgive and forget (at the cost of  your fan base because of their love of Gambus).

B).  Do an N4G Podcast charity car wash with all of you in bikinis, to raise money to hire the best assasin in the world to kill Gambus's killer.

C).  Pick one of you to train to be a decently good Karate/Ninja/Samurai/Pirate and go try to avenge Gambus yourself by killing the said killer.

D).  Or just take out your anger on Killerwolverine and beat him unconscious so you can sacrifice him to the Grim Reaper to try to get Gambus's life back.

Re:Q The Crew 2009 Edition - Monday, October 19, 2009 10:21 PM
I thought I just had to beat Uncharted2 on any difficulty to unlock Crushing... After beating Normal I found this to be false, which sucks because now I have to beat it a second time, on hard, just to unlock crushing so I can get this platinum soon. And I haven't even touched on the MP or Co-op yet. :/ If only I had more time to play games...Have you guys ever done something similar to this?

For any of you who've played DragoneAge, how does the gameplay compare to Baldurs Gate? I've seen  my bro play through Baldurs Gate multiple times now and the gameplay looks very fun, how does Dragon Age compare? To me , Dragon Age looks much more in-depth and strategical which kinda turned me off to the game for a while.

I went back and started playing MGS again, but this time on my PSP thanks to the download version on PSN, and I must say: although I hate discussing what game I think is the " best ever " or " my all time favorite " I've finally come to the conclusion that MGS is my favorite game ever and in my opinion the best...ever. I really hate saying that but to this day there still isn't a game that has influenced me as much as MGS. No other game has been able to evoke me emotionally like MGS has. So, what game for you has evoked you the most emotionally and how? Since we're on the topic of emotional games, I'm really curious why you guys aren't interested in Heavy Rain? I'm not saying that it's going to be absolutely phenominal or anything of the sort, but I do find it very intruiging and Can't wait to see how the story pulls me in and makes me feel. Heavy Rain looks to me like a great game and I'm hoping it turns out to be.

Do any of you like any foreign bands? I really like Opeth-a Swedish heavy metal band, and Nightwish- a Finnish heavy metal band. Just got U2 platinum! :D

Ok, this time a a real question, now that it's revealed that Final Fantasy XIII on PS3 will not have an install at all, why do you guys think that so many games on the PS3 still have a mandatory install? it has been proven by many games on the PS3 that they do not need an install, games like Uncharted 1 and 2(no loading after the initial load when you click on continue), Modern Warfare 1 and 2, Dead Space, Killzone 2, Midnight Club Los Angeles(open world), Burnout Paradise(open world), Ratchet and Clank Future, Condemned 2 and many others. You guys think that it's because they're just lazy?
