WTF? That's weird. I wonder why he did that. He should get in trouble. If you look though, he was going to get tackled by a guy anyway. So luckily it probably didn't change the outcome of the game. Unless that guy was going to cause the QB to fumble. We may never know. lol. I still think that ref needs to be fired or something.

watch the second video here on ESPN's website - you kinda get their take on the situation, and the video is a bit better:

That video is a lot better. When you watch that vid it looks like the QB could have got at least 3 or 4 more yards. It looked like he was about to make that play work. That really hurt their team.

The ref clearly did that on purpose. There is no doubt about that. He should be fined and fired.

Great now SC can use this to complain about how they lost to LSU.  From up close it definitely looks like it was on purpose, but from up high it looks like he was just getting out of the way.

he wouldn't have to move if he didnt shuffle his way over in front of him...i could care less about the team, its just the fact that a ref can get away w/ stuff like this by saying he was trying to get away, and in the nfl, if u accidentally hit one, you could get fined

Oh, he's definitely going to be catching crap from that, it is gaining huge popularity on both the internet and tv more and more.  That alone will force them to take action, whether they want to or not.  Why the ref did it, we will probably hear about that when they question him.  Was there some off the field dispute between the two before the game that caused the ref to do that?  What a moron, get his ass off the field, permanently.

I am actually a big fan of Rugby, sadly though we don't get much coverage of it here in the states.

That's because Rugby games are bloody garbage. The actual sport is a lot better than your US Football... although, it may not appeal to the American crowd as much because it's not as... extravagant, so to speak.

Next week's headline, Ref steals ball and gives to the other team while trying to get out of the way! But it's ok because he was trying to get out of the way.
