As well know, Bionic Commando: Rearmed for the PSN and XBL is a remake of the classic, 1980s game of the game name (ok...it didn't have the word 'Rearmed' with it).  Although with updated graphics, the developers did a good job of retaining that 1980s feel to the game with the cheesy 80s-style plotline, characters, dialogue, and music.

In celebration of Bionic Commando: Rearmed, I (being an 80s baby myself) proudly presents N4G:  Remembering the 80's.  In this thread, we talk about what we do remember or do know about the 80's if you don't remember/born in that era.

I'll start first:  Classic movies that we all and still love today

Pre-politics Arnold flicks:
Terminator, Predator, and Commando

Back to the Future

Music:  Old Metallica and many classic pop tunes from the era

Games:  Mario and Castlevania for the NES

Don't remember much from the 80's as I was born in 85, but I do love Back to the Future, Jaws and Young Guns to name a few movies. Game Wise, Tetris and Mario ring a bell. :)

The 80's were the greatest years of our modern era. Best music. We had a similar thread not long ago.

I love the 80's music, it's way better than most of the crap the music industry is dishing out these days.

No wai. 70's music > all else. Today's music brings nothing new to the table, aside from maybe tool and a few others.

Oooohhh....another one of favorite 80's scenes:  Cartoons!!

People who spent their childhood in this decade knows about Transformers, GI Joe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Thundercats, Voltes 5, Dino Riders.  Damn...those were, and still are, the best cartoons that I could think of.

Yup, it did.  As a matter of fact, there are some hard-core Transformer fans out there who prefer the animated 1987 movie over the live-action 2007 movie starring Shia Le Beouf, now unfortunately called the "Transformer Kid" due to his role.

**** MADDENS...how could I forget the A-Team!  Speaking of shows, does anyone still remember Air Wolf and Knight Rider?

Last year my friend and I were in the car on the way to the mall and we were having a discussion about Air Wolf and Knight Rider. And I was like "dude, Airwolf was a bootleg Knight Rider, the helicopter didn't even do **** special F*CK AIRWOLF". Then just as I parked, a black helicopter landed on the other side of the parking lot and my friend was like "Holy ****, Airwolf is coming to get you".

In any case, I was born in the early 80s so I'm an 80s baby thus born in the coolest decade ever. My list goes:

Shows:

Macgyver
A-Team
Knight Rider
Transformers
Voltron
M.A.S.K.
Bravestar
Robotech/Macross
Silverhawks
Thundercats
Centurions
Captain N
Heathcliff
Inspector Gadget
Max Headroom
Small Wonders
Golden Girls (Yes I'm serious, Blanche 4life)
Denver the last Dinosaur, he's my friend and a whole lot more.

Alf freaked me out somewhat.

I'll leave it at shows for now, but I got a whole list of music, movies, and games I loved back then.

Funny you've mentioned MacGuyver because of all the show characters that I could think, MacGuyver is the closest live action figure you have to a video game character.  I mean, you're talking about a guy who can make stuff work out of scraps...much the same way video game characters do.

That's actually what made me want Alone in the Dark so much, I always wanted a Macgyver game and felt that it couldn't be done like it should in the past but now we can (I shall), and AITD looked to start that process. I was seriously a huge Macgyver fan when I was younger, followed by the A-Team and Knight Rider. Those 3 shows with Transformers and Bravestar kept me hooked.

I should have listed TMNT even though I wasn't a HUGE Ninja Turtles fan, I watched it enough to love it. I was never into G.I. Joe except for Cobra, and He-man was ehh except for Skeletor, Orko, and Man-E-Faces. But Transformers was and still is my ****, at one time I had probably every Transformers related merchandise ever until the early 90s. We moved and I left it all with my Grandma and my cousin got his dirty hands on it and destroyed all my stuff.  And yes, the animated Transformers movie is leaps and bounds over the movie we got last year. I mean the whole Unicron/Optimus' Death/Rodimus Prime thing was mindblowing. Also, Spike cursed.

Hah remember the GoBots?
