The problem is...

The source/credit is reported by Columbus, and this can be fixed as long as the story is set back to approved.

Since I am the author of both, the IncGamers one should really be the source, and the SCW an alternate source, but if you want to do it the other way, that's fine.

I think all the StarCraft talk nuked it. ;)

That is duplicate, the original submission of the StarCraft news reports the beta, it's just not in the title.  The source cannot be fixed because it is in use by the other submission.

The two are related in subject but not topic or context. "Myopic Publishers" should have been the first clue as to the nature of the article.

Seem like other contributors tombstoned it without reading it and thought it was a duplicate out of context.

Both my stories were reported as duplicates, the first: http://www.n4g.com/NewsPending-298717.aspx because the people reporting thought that a German Politician in Winnenden is the same as a German Police Chairman in Hesse, I promise they're not.

My other was an opinion article: http://www.n4g.com/NewsPending-298727.aspx that was reported for being a duplicate of a news item that I cited in my article for the base of my opinion, it couldn't be a duplicate since one is a reported news item and the other is an opinion piece based on that item that brings up another point not mentioned in the original news piece, that's why I categorized it under article and not news.

Hey there!

It looks like your submission links to the article navigation page of a site.  Your submission is not actually a news piece or article then, and I believe that is why a moderator failed it (correctly).  While GDC news roundups are acceptable, they should be actually pieces (a single page) from a site with their selected highlights included. 

If you believe you just pasted the wrong link into the url field, let me know, but I did not see a story by the title you used.

IncGamers received a slightly different statement from a spokesperson, however, the substance of the story is in the original submission.  The IncGamer story is best as an alternate source to the original submission.

This story http://www.n4g.com/NewsPending-303536.aspx was just submitted and is being reported as duplicate but that isn't the case. The article brings up the Kaplan talks at GDC but explains the problems Kaplan didn't discuss.

It's not the same article as http://www.n4g.com/events_gdc2009/News-301325.aspx

I can change the title if you'd like, but they definitely are not the same.

By the way, when something fails is there a way to fix the reported problems? You can't resubmit the article obviously, but I'm not sure how it works.
