As well all know, the Resident Evil series is first and foremost a horror game, but since the release of Resident Evil 4 the series has lost its touch. I played and beat Resident Evil 4 and not at one point did I find a scary moment. Now with Resident Evil 5 the game is even taking place in daylight. Capcom said they were going to make us afraid of daylight, but there's no way in hell I can see that happening. The worst offender is the addition of a partner. With that feature they've taken away the feeling of being "alone." I know I'm in the minority, but what Capcom is doing to the Resident Evil series is a F U to the fans.

I agree with you Le-Mo.  Resident Evil has lost it's luster with every game after 4.

This what im scared of for Halo. Halo has stuck to a formula for the past 3 games...i think now theyre gonna change it up

...Im just like you though, i may be alienated.

Please Halo dont turn to crap like the Resident Evil series....even though part 4 is one of the best games ever.

I remember when RE was all about progressing thru creepy environments trying to solve complicated puzzles and while you searched for clues you had to constantly check your ammo and item management to stay alive from the brutal enemies and clever boss battles...

you know...when RE was still an actual Survival Horror game -_- and not a run-and-gun like it was been since 4 >.>

Yea great games should build upon what made them great. Halo should not follow in Resident evils footsteps. IT has to keep its charm and great multiplayer gameplay.

I already whined about this and everyone was like i was being a hating. All they need to do is add a cover system. Apparently capcom will be introducing new controls as well so prepare for some gears of war in Africa...it won't be all bad. RE4 was a great game just not a resident evil game

Yeah it'll have day time too but I'm sure that there will be some dark corridors and buildings too it shouldnt be too bad dude. It looks awesome (mind you 4 has not made it to my tv) 5's visuals and setting alone have intrigued me back to the series

This isn't 1996 anymore, guys.  RE1's formula would not translate well onto modern day consoles.  Albeit, RE4 was completely different than the previous three installments, it was still critically acclaimed.  The cheesey voice acting, clunky controls, and two-dollar aiming system had to go, upgrades needed to be made.  Now don't get me wrong, I completely understand the complaints about RE being more like a TPS now as opposed to a survival horror game, but what else would you suggest Capcom have done?  Times change and games evolve, that's just the way it is.

Yeah, because they cared about you in the first place.  Stop whining, they never cared about you in the first place, just your money, and if you didn't like the leap they made, you shouldn't have bought the game (if you did).  Oh well, theres always some die hard fanboys afraid of change.

So tons of zombies(or w/etf they're called) coming at you all at once while you try to conserve as much ammo as possible and remain alive isn't survival horror?  Hmm, I must have missed something.

I like the new direction. It may not be a shared feeling, but games like
Siren have long overtaken Resi in the 'frights' department and they had to work with what they had.

I have to give Capcom props for MT Framework too. They did really well with that one.

So true. As Yahtzee put it, they throw Survival-Horror out of the window with RE4.
RE5 is even worse. 2 player co-op in a horror game? What's next? 16 player co-op campaign for RE6?

Completely agree , the fisrt RE I played was on the GC , Ive only played 2 RE games : RE1 and RE 0 (special exclusive to GC) .RE1 is easily one of the best games Ive ever played : the atmosphere etc was simply amazing.Incredible game. And it was scary. That mansion just didnt feel right...lol.
I was constantely stressed , on my toes , on the alert , it was almost tiring emotionaly.Thats something Ive never felt in RE4 and it looks like RE5 is going the same way.
RE4 was a great game but not a RE game

I don't know if any of you guys seen this yet, but this is what Resident Evil 4 supposed to be like.

Pre-alpha version of RE4

That pre-alpha version of RE4 definitely looks a lot more like an upgraded, classic RE.  Wonder what made Capcom scrap it?
