Resistance 2 ... a failure? - Friday, October 30, 2009 8:38 PM
Everyone who replies to this post be 100% honest...do you think that resistance 2 was a failure...im talkin about every single aspect of it...gameplay, visuals the MMO story, online co-op...i personally think the online could have had more maps..and maybe better graphics for the game too...tell me what you think...

I enjoyed it but the story was lacking.  I was also in the MP Beta so I got my fill before it came out, but I still played it some.  And I absolutely loved the co-op portion of the online aspect of the game.  So in less words "I am not ashamed that its in my library."

I don't consider it a failure, a big no a huge step down from the original yes but otherwise it was ok.

Not a failure

More like an experiment in my eyes.

It didn't live up to the some of the first games expectations though.

I loved it. Spent alot of time with the campaign and the Co op. Not a failure in any way. Except for the lack of splitscreen of course.

it was real kool. but to me it lacked that flow that makes u never wanna put the controller down. like in uncharted 2. n i thot the co-op should have more story to it rather than just objective missions. as for competitive multiplayer, i was in the beta so wen the full game came i didnt stay attached very long. i thot the controls were great but i kinda didnt like sum enemies. i loved the epic boss fights. that was definetly a huge plus. i feel it needs a darker more gloomy atmosphere like killzone 2 tho.

It wasn't a failure, but it certainly could have been better.  I have fonder memories of Fall of Man than I do Resistance 2, but I haven't played either recently.

Overall i thought the game was excellent, however there were quite a lot of let downs.
It didnt have the intricate story telling like the first did and bring back the narrator!
The CO-Op was nop notch really was, also how you can play splitscreen competitive and co-op, brilliant.
Story was pretty fun, not as good as first.
Personally i dont think its a failure.

??

That was one of its triumphs. Split-screen online. It was the original that was lacking decent split-screen because it had no bots.

I don't think the narrator should be brought back necessarily. The whole story just wasn't great. There was no progression, you just went from one place to another with not much reason. I think the poor graphics can't have helped matters, and generally they just tried to do too much in too little time. Resistance 1 didn't try to do too much or be too complex with the multiplayer, and it turned out great. Resistance 2 added stuff without adding depth. First and foremost, however, the game lost its unique charm and feel - don't know what it was, but either the graphic style, weapon wheel, weapon feel or movement didn't quite cut it.

split screen online is its best aspect imo. Extremely fun, I would buy the game just for that. The lack of splitscreen coop in story mode is its biggest failure.
Its a good game, nothing more.

Re:Resistance 2 ... a failure? - Saturday, October 31, 2009 7:48 AM
In my eyes this game was an - Epic Failure - ... yeah I'm sorry EPIC..

it started off good, and at first I was liking it, but then it all started to fall apart around me...

-For one- Graphics seemed good but after playing awhile and looking closely something was wrong, felt more candy paint- if that's even a word, just felt really washed out, like not detailed and done like R1 (resistance 1) Something was seriously wrong...

-Then online - again at first it felt fine, but then under more playing I began to realize that lag was indeed happening and it was masked by making you have to shoot enemies five thousand times to kill them -(your basic Lag Fest)

-Story was weak, really under wheliming for one, of course he's infected, but can it be cool like infamous -instead of I"m just infected the whole game the end.

-Can there be something more to the story then kill the aliens - live happily ever after... Done only one million times before.

(how cool would it have been if they where infecting people and taking over humans - and one of the guys with you gets infected and turns on you, but you don't know at first, he just keeps going back and undoing things you just did like if there is 4 levers to push down before we go forward. And they are all in different rooms on the map.. as you do one it goes green and then back red when it's un-done) -then you have to take him down...

I mean can we get a little bit of something new - it's really not that hard to think of some new twist

- Then all the aliens coming for you - now this is fine but it takes too much to kill them - that kinda kills everything -

Makes the game no fun at all, because your weapons fell so weak, you never feel like your in control - feels more like luck instead of skill... really bad for a video game...

Then they did the unforgivable - they turned down the power of the boss, so it's really not that hard to beat any boss at the end levels.... - what's the point in playing

If I don't feel like wow I just got passed that, that was amazing, then the game is a complete wash...
-it's like putting on the cartoon network for the kids and turning off the volume-

What's the point - The whole game felt like it was for kids, not real gamers... IMO

everything was just turned down to baby level... Awful, if I want my games to be easy and a breeze to get through I would play on the WII - it's a balance that R1 nailed perfectly, but R2 completely missed...

-It's the one game of all my PS3 games that I really wish I would have never bought - they might have just killed their franchise... IMO

WE DONT STOP PLAYING BECAUSE WE GROW O L D... WE GROW O L D BECAUSE WE STOP PLAYING.

It wasn't a complete failure. The single player wasn't compelling and, sure, the bosses looked good but sucked in every other area, but the Co-Op Mode was bloody awesome. Even Uncharted 2's isn't THAT good. Yet.

I was talking about splitscreen in the campaign.
