So i was thinking...should upgrade and get a powerful pc just to play crysis, the witcher and the new total war..or just stick to the PS360?
Here's the type of rig i had in mind,it might take me 4 months to earn enough cash to buy but i think it's worth it...what do you guys think,is there anything cheaper and better?

Your title is misleading
Crysis alone isn't worth it (Though IMO, the game isn't worth anything, seriously overhyped graphics only game with dated gameplay that does nothing that FarCry didn't).

But The Witcher is definitly worth it and so will be the new Total War.

I think you should wait until the next plateau of hardware comes out in the coming months before getting a new pc, also waiting a bit for hardware issues and prices to go down.

SCG said it best. If you don't, you'll just find yourself behind again in a year or so, with need for another upgrade, and a lighter wallet.

You don't buy a gaming rig, you build it yourself.
$2000 is more than enough to build a damn good pc to play Crysis etc.
I'll be building a new rig myself this summer.

Buying PC parts and building your own really isint all that difficult, even just reading small 2 page guides on the internet can get you well on your way. By buying and reading a cheap pc building guide you will save yourself tons of money and get exactly what you want. The biggest challenge is just learning the terminology of parts and knowing what to buy to get what you want.

IMHO if you have the cash and want to play those games badly enough then go for it.

Waiting for newer better hardware, price drops etc in the PC industry, well if you do that you will never get one. You will always be waiting. Just get a PC that's easy to upgrade.

Well, thing is..i dont have enough cash yet ... but as SCG & Neon said,it'll be cheaper to just build one so that's what i'll probably do.

I wouldn't buy a new PC for just Crysis, but if you have several games that require more power and you want to play them, knock yourself out.
And yes, build it yourself. It's easy as pie, really.

Theres also Far Cry 2 coming out at the end of this year so you could play that on the PC.

Depends on you really, we cant decide for you. I would personally. Depends on what other games in the future you are thinking of purchasing aswell.

The way I look at it is you want to build a PC that can handle Crysis. It's not just for Crysis but it needs to be able to handle it with flying colors. Crysis is just a good way to measure the type of computer you need to handle any game for the next 2 or 3 years. Lets face it. There is not another game thats as bad of a resource hog as Crysis and there won't be for years to come. Why do you think Crysis suffered in sales? Because they made the game to be played on a system that at the time of release only about 20% or less PC's were able to handle maybe on low or medium graphics. So it's not a bad thing if you are building a PC just to handle Crysis. That just means any already existing games and just about all future games for the next few years will play on your PC.

Also some people don't have the time to build their own PC. Between work, family time and gaming time that could leave you building the damn thing for a long time. And anyone telling you it's easy to build your own PC with no prior experience and a 2 page manual is out of their mind. There are a ton of places out there that can build it for you at little labor costs, and don't pay for a name either like Alienware. Thats just a rip off. Good luck with your build.

As it's been said, build your own. Tell me what you want in it and what you want the computer to do and I'll list parts and prices.

There's nothing quite like the joy of building your own computer and knowing all the parts and potential problems.

Only people who appear on "I'm Rich$$" show buy Alienware sh!t. Build your own.

Crysis is overhyped but Spazz is right, it is a also good way to test your machine. Even the recent GTX280 from NVIDIA can't run Crysis with all the bells and whistles so better wait for the next card from NVIDIA(probably coming out on nov 2008).

One way or another your going to update some day if you want to play any of the big name titles this year. Just don't think of it as upgrading for one game because that is always pointless. Think of how much it cost to update now compared to later and what will be coming out when and such. Those points should help making your decision a little easier.
