Being a huge fan of the first after about 3 viewings I was waiting for the sequel until I heard that Christophe Gans might not have anything to do with it. He's working on Onimusha now which should win since Takeshi Kaneshiro is going to be Samanosuke like he SHOULD be. The good thing about Gans is that he knows the source material he's working with but he does deviate a little so as to make the movie interesting to the people who played the game. He realized some fans were pissed about some changes that were made to the original Silent Hill story but I grew to like them as soon as I learned the cult portrayed in the movie isn't the same cult from the games. It's also been said that the original movie was 3 hours long but a lot was cut in the release for theaters and DVD. A possible "director's" cut could come out after Onimusha is released, although Gans officially said any cut he's released so far is the director's cut and he won't go back to mess with it until Onimusha. Also Akira Yamaoka was on board for Silent Hill so that's why I even gave it time to begin with. In any case I believe Silent Hill 2 was supposed to be adapted from the Silent Hill 2 game but Gans won't be director (as of now), and since Gans won't be able to work on it due to Onimusha then Roger Avary won't be writing the script. Gans suggested another European director, preferrably French to helm the film (thank god, sorry Hollywood you suck now). Seriously though without Gans and Avary I don't think I want to see this one unless they use a pretty good director and one of the writers from the game to pen the script.
