I've playing this Silent Hill game for a bit now not sure how far I am through it I am on the 5 floor of the abandon hotel and it's pretty damn good. I don't know what game the reviewers who scored it lousy were playing. So far this is one of my favorite Silent Hill games and I have played them all. The ambience is great and it controls well too. The creatures are really well done.

NO! You lie! I am a BIG fan of Silent Hill and this one is garbage, they made it way to action orientated and they brought back characters that they shouldn't have, like Pyramid Head, his existence is directly tied to Jame's subconscious, so why? Killed the series IMO.

Yes, I said it before in one of my posts: I don't know what the problem is with sites like IGN which are giving this game poor scores.
This is vintage Silent Hill and it's terribly good at what it does. Everything from the 2nd and 3rd one are here. The atmosphere is creepy, the enemies are dangerous and look very disturbing, the storyline is intriguing and it's fun to play. Fans will greatly enjoy it. And it's pretty long too.

Funny thing is that they don't have the complete walkthrough on Gamefaqs yet. It can get tough.

I'm just going to ask you: Have you played the game? How do you feel the new system is causal. You are either one of the best SH players ever or you simply have not played it yet. There is nothing casual about it. NOTHING. In fact, it feels even more visceral now whn you are fighting enemies.

I can become abusive when people talk about games I like, I apologize for that.

So wait... It's too action-orientated? I'm confused... >_< My biggest problem is that now someone says they've brought Pyramid Head back. That can't be right, can it? He was a great badguy, without fail, easily on par with Nemesis from RE3, but he's as out of place against anyone other than James as Nemesis would be against anyone but Jill...

Well it's mixed reviews in the forums too. This is no more action oriented the any of the other games in the series. Sure they improved the combat but it makes it feel more real. You can still fight if you want or run away. Still has the puzzles, still search for your health and ammo always looking forward to your next save point. How can Pyramid head be out of place it's a nightmare world? It is like saying Freddie Krueger couldn't possibly be in five movies or even Jason in ten.

Like Kingshadowhigh said, Pyramid Head is directly tied to Jame's (SH2's protagonist) subconscious.

Yeah give a whirl. You really have to expeirence it. It's almost as disturbing as SH2. I'm really enjoying it. If you do rent it let us know what you think about it.

I finally got the game in the mail. I have no idea why people are calling it casual. There is nothing casual about this game. As for the game, I'm about 3 hours in, just pass the cemetery, and I am quite pleased with it.The game is good. I have no idea why the reviewers are giving this game average scores. The controls are great. The combat works very well, and finally you can dodge the enemies attacks. The atmosphere is pretty good, and that nightmare part in the beginning was great. I love how the game looked with that red stuff. The graphics aren't impressive. Alex's mom sure looks creepy though. The great thing about exploring the places is that there are no load times in the buildings. When you open a door or etc inside a building, there would be no load times. You open it and there you are. As for the story, its too early to tell. So far I'm not liking it. The game isn't as scary as the first 3 so far. Also the nurses have some nice rack. And lastly, the camera is no longer annoying and terrible.
