..but with a friend.
We've decided to purchase one together, because all we ever do on another friend's Wii is play Smash, so neither of us wants to waste too much money =\

Is it a bad idea? =S
We're close friends, and we live relatively close, as well, so I don't see a potential 'THATS MY WII, **** YOU' situation popping up.

Any thoughts? =S

Pretty much a no brainerfor BRAWL if both of you are going in on it together, but you better make sure you have "visitation & borrowing" rights down before your friend decides to take it for an extended leave of absence, while conveniently forgetting that you live across the street.

Otherwise, may the force be with you.

I dont see a problem with it aslong as you guys dont get into any fights about who has it at whos house, and dont worry about the people telling you to buy a wii if you like it you like it.

We each have our own PS3s already, and we've somewhat worked out a system that we both believe will work =\

If you don't have a 360, get that instead

Go for it, just sort out who has it when and dont argue over it.

When the next big game lands who buys it? And who gets the console for a bit?

I would suggest also splitting the price of any games you both want.

Also, make sure you know what you're going in certain situations. What if one of you moves? What will be the penalties of borrowing the Wii past your scheduled allotted time? etc. etc. As long as you have some ground rules and all, then I'd say it's a good idea.

I say if u think u want one and u like the games then get it but research it to see if its good for u  and look at the 260 and the PS3, u may like them better

O.o..never thought he'd keep it over longer.
But now that you mention it, he still has my bike! >_<! Bah!

The only rule I'm gonna throw out is that if KH3 is Wii-clusive, I get first dibs =D

Edit: As far as other games go, there's nothing that grabs my interest.

I think this has more to do w/ you and your friend's relationship than the fact that you are going halves on the ownership of a Wii.  The situation should be treated like any other product you would go halves on w/ a friend.   Just be fair and treat him/her like you would want to be treated regarding playtime, ongoing costs, etc.  If you've had it at your house for a month, let your friend have it the next month.

If you both want a game, split the cost.  If you want a particular game that your friend doesn't, buy it yourself as long as he/she buys some games in full as well.  If you buy a game yourself and your friend ends up liking it and plays it a lot, sit down and talk about it.  He/she should give you half the cost of the game or buy the next game that you both want.

If you buy a lot of WiiWare or VC games, take turns replenishing equal amounts of Wii Points.

Just remember that you two are friends.  Don't sweat the petty stuff unless it gets out of hand and don't be afraid to say what's on your mind if you feel anything is unfair.  If you think you're spending significantly more on the ownership of the Wii, tell your friend how you feel rather than keeping it to yourself otherwise you will grow bitter toward your friend and your friend may not even realize why.

Just share till one of you decides to pay for the other half. Simple. Make a schedule to know when you get the wii as well. No schedule and one of you will get ripped off for sure.

I wouldn't do it. It carries the possibility of wrecking your friendship, however small the probability is. I wouldn't risk it.

mjones1994, there's really no need to force your opinion of other people's choice in consoles. Keep it on the main site.  Sharing a 360 or a ps3 is a worse choice because you need to spend considerable time playing the games, and would be less likely to share.

Why not spend the money buying some good games? Unless of course, you already have all the games you want, in which case, sure, buy a Wii if you want to, but make sure you both know how to share fairly.

Ive done this before. What worked was: figuring where it will be at mainly and having a buyout option where each other has the option to pay you their half for keeps.

seriously, if you have the other consoles and want this as something on the side, go for it, but all my friends that got this as their console of choice truly regret it and theres not alot of people i talk to that still play theirs, other than for drinkin games!!!

I think that's the first time I ever heard that before..... "I'm thinking about picking up a Wii".  It's usually, you pick up a Wii, then get bored with it, then consider either a PS3 or 360....

I don't know.  I got my Wii a couple months after it was launched and while it was a blast at first, its fun quickly diminished...... Did you see E3?  I am almost embarrassed to say I own a Wii after seeing that abortion of a conferance.  I don't know, Nintendo only caters to the casual audience now it seems.  They really need to pick up their game.  I'm almost thinking about selling mine but I still have some faith that Nintendo will wake up.....

But ya, do what ya want.  I'd rather go with a PS3 or a 360 though
