Seriously after rewatching all the meet the movies, its become painfully clear that Valve needs to produce a feature film using these characters, but it would be more mature rated, and would still have something to do with the classic spy world kinda thing they live in

a mature animated movie would be interesting. I think it'll be pretty cool, especially if they used the Team Fortress 2 characters

Edit: forget the sniper...this one made me lol http://youtube.com/watch?v=_eaE-_GDbmQ&feature=related

Why?  So hollywood can tarnish another great gaming franchise through a crappy movie?

i dont really know is we need movies, in theory video games should be already similar to movies, they both SHOULD us entertainment, have characters we can relate to and that develop over the course of the journney, and both have a good story. as i see it a Video game is a movie we can interact with. but there is something to say for a hour and a half of sitting back watching your favourite characters from games destroy the enemies. so it is an idea, i dont know if i'd like it though

That is a very valid point, but what about games that could care less about a story? Like the Ninja Gaiden series, those games were really entertaining but the lines and the storyline were totally abysmal.

to my knoweledge the ninja gaiden series had a story, ...something along the lines of need to get revenge for my attacked village, a game neads a story, it is the character's reason to progress, but many games of recent dont have compelling stories, that is the difference between good dames and great games in my oppinion, there are people that still play the classic games, like FF7 though the graphics are oputdates just for the story.

so back on topic i would probably watch a movie based off the valve characters, but i would prefer to play the games

MGS could be [is] argued as a hybrid.

No. There are no exceptions. MGS4s storyline is laughable as it is. It just feels awesome because of the gameplay.

I'm guessing you haven't played the other MGSes and therefore your opinion doesn't count.

It is 9 hours movie and roughly the same amount gameplay, and it is the only game series with a solid storyline.

I've played every single Metal gear game. Including the Acid ones on PSP. The storyline is ****e. You see people like Edge interview the people at Pixar and ask if their afraid that Video Games will overcome movies...you know what they do? They laugh. there are three beliefs people have that piss me off:

-That hardcore gaming is ever growing and becoming more popular. Soon, it will hit the ‘mainstream’. (This has been repeated for years.)
-The nature of video games are like that of movies. As soon as video-games become even more movie like, *bam*, gaming becomes mainstream.
-The more a game becomes a Cinematic Experience, the more ‘artistic’ it becomes.

None of it is true.

Sorry dude, but if you think MGS's storyline is ****e, then you must throw up at most games, or fail to acknowledge a storyline in any of them. 1% of MGS "fans" dislike the story, it's part of the reason many even like the games at all.

As for movies/games business, Pixar can suck it. Wall-E was average as hell. If I want a good movie in that vein, I'll watch a Miyazaki.

Though I agree that in most cases, games should not be turned into movies, nor vice versa.

WaLL-E was one of the greatest films in years. MGS has a good story for a game. Thats not saying much. It works and seems awesome because its a game. The background makes it feel awesome. the actual story is poor. I never said it was a bad game (I love the series) but its a bad movie.

Wall-E is average as hell. Ratatouille is probably better. I'd rather watch Spirited Away or Nausicaä, which are excellent films. Disney pretty much stares open jawed at any work of Miyazaki, he's a god to them.

As for MGS, I'd never have gotten into the series if the storyline, cinematic direction and themes weren't as good as they are.

To each their own, though.
