I thought it was going well, but then again it did go off the original topic,

though we were still mentioning mcain and obama so it wasnt completely off topic but and it might of reallly went down hill afterword.

Edit: as i said in my next post it was pretty off topic.

I really think the mods are way too liberal with their powers sometimes. It's not as bad as Gamespot, since we know and talk to most of the mods, and the community here's a little more close knit, but there is often a lack of reason as to why threads like yours get locked. Anything with even a hint of controversy in it, seems to constitute a lock, which I think is ridiculous.

so you did see the thread later in the day? I didnt cause i was preoccupied with an emergency, so i could see if it went down hill and it sorta was off the original topic, heck completely becasue we started talking about issues when it was merely about people going over to Mcain. And then it could of gone down hill by people commenting and attacking other members i dont know.

I can understand the lock though. We have had political threads(and religion threads as well) and they have never ended well, becasue people start atacking eachother. So they are only acting toward something that has happeneed over and over.

I know what you're saying, about political debates in the internet, and that they never end well. Although, we did have one on Universal Healthcare that I thought actually garnered some sophisiticated discussion and insight, which impressed me.

yeah well they have been locking more but the forums have been alot better because of it.

But at the point i stopped going to the thread we were talking about mcain and obama and also when to pull out and everthing. So we were off topic, and from there it might of gotten worse.

I'm not debating that the forums may have been "better", as in, people behaved better, but then again, that was the case with Nazi Germany. The mods are being too oppresive. It's okay to prevent arguments, and encourage discussions, but I don't like how they're killing off good old-fashioned debate.

Maybe that's why people have been angrier than usual... we're all in need of a little bit of controversy...

Im saying that perhaps the thread totally went south thus the lock i don't know. Im not going to be too big of a deal of it lol.

but i think people get more grumpy around times of big games coming out. That being MGS4. Fans and non fans alike with big games always seem to get edgey. I hardly think its the forums being that on the mainsite people are edgy too lol.

Edit: oh so it barely got that far. Maybe it was to do with the canadian candidates. We were off topic, and that was partly my fault

lol i think you missed some crazy times here. spam and everything.(it was when you were like never on) So they have been cracking down because alot of forum members were getting sick of it.

ps360fella You can still talk to a mod about it and they might grant you an unlock you know. I think alot of people forget that if they think their thread was unfairly lock they can talk to a mod about it.

If you do have an issues with what a mod has done just PM them or multiple mods.

what your mentioning then is more so individuals then. But yeah there have been some controversial posts to put it lightly, and they have cause issues. Hopefully they are resolved.

And no you havent casue any issues LJ lol.

But i was thinking that hey everyone gets really deffensive, or attacks really easy during a big lauch of a game. Not totally forum members but just in general.

Maybe the release of MGS4 will kill N4G for a while, settle it all down. Then, when everyone comes back, they'll hopefully have something to smile about, and we can enjoy a harmonious period, if only briefly.
