Seems like Sega are intent on getting Sonic into as many different genres as possible, doesn't it? He's in a beat 'em up, a sports game, RPGs (god, he's sounding like Mario ) and now this... Looks like it could be a hack 'n' slash variant of Sonic... Which could work and could fail miserably.

Discuss what this new game could be, and also discuss why Sega are doing the same to Sonic as Nintendo did to Mario. Is it a wise move?

Since Sega has a terrible track record as of late, I say fail.

I'll judge the game after I see some video or screenshots.

Sonic is dead to me. I was always a Sega kid growing up, even had a Master Syetem instead of an NES, but the state of Sonic now is just sad.

Oh well. If it can make Sega a few million to put towards a decent game or a new console, more power to them.

A different team that is not Sega working on a Sonic game? Wow that makes me feel even more pessimistic.

Ditto... If Sonic Team were working on this, there'd be little hope... With another team making it, there's even less hope.

Actually its Sonic Team who keeps raping their own games, this other team could actually be starwars: A new hope.

I liked sonic back in the days of genesis. this new approach may work though.....anything has to be better than the sonic mini-game feel of some sonic titles (tennis)

It means Rocket-Propelled Grenade.

I liked Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 though, not so much 2. But, those games proved that he can "work" in 3D, it's just that Sonic Team apparently needs a massive boot up the arse.

SA1 was a little better, in my opinion.

Final fantasy is a Rocket-Propelled Grenade.
=D....awesome =D

It's all your fault this is happening, yes you, the readers of this post.

No matter how bad Sonic gets people still buy it, stop buying the damn games if you want them to get better. Poor sonic is nothing more then a licence to print money, the company know it so they don't put any effort into the games.

This doesn't even make the first step of the "Sonic Cycle", it's just so obviously going to end badly

The last team to make a competent Sonic game was DIMPS with Rush and the Japanese Sonic Team was responsible for Sonic 2006. At this point it's probably better that the game isn't in Sega's hands.
