Did you like... only play 3 games this year or what?
Played many games man, but I don't go by reviews, so hence most of what I played wasn't included in the nominations, would you be surprised to know that I though RE6 was one of the best titles this year 
I was probably a bit rash with my comment because I hasn't checked the nominations. After looking at them, it seems like the same games got nominated for everything, so it's not like you had much choice to chose from. I'm not sure why they have GOTY and SOTY when those studio's have only made one game. It's just duplicating awards for the same thing.

Rule number 1, if it is a game that has anything to do with Rockstar, it automatically wins GOTY
At least 'Rockstar Games' games are of some good, not like Valve's who's barely Average games are Some of the most popular, well received & cherished games of all time.

Half Life is overrated beyond belief, but Portal 1, and 2 are brilliant, well Rockstar is okay, give me a Bully sequel over GTAV anyday
I would say Portal 2 was brilliant since it got the developer attention that it should. That side story has so much depth the more you look into it. Half-Life series was great because it essentially the beginning of modern FPS. I enjoyed the HL2 episodes more than HL2 since they didn't have segments that dragged on.
