In recent history we've had a lot of trouble with spam, flame bait and otherwise deletable posts. If someone posts or creates a thread that is clearly going to be locked/deleted/etc. DO NOT RESPOND. Do not quote their post or even reply to them, it only
a)creates more work
and b) legitimizes their post.

Just stop responding to this nonsense, you have no idea how much easier it would make keeping the forums tidy if you didn't respond. In fact, instead of replying feel free to PM a mod that's online so we can make sure we deal with it quickly.

Obviously thatt's been a problem but this refers to every time someone posts an in b4 lock gif as well.

edit: yes, it's sad especially when some of you make some genuinely amusing and elaborate ones...but ultimately they're a giant pain.

I have seen a few good threads shut down by one person in particular who is constantly spamming. Not replying IMHO is a band aid solution. Sure hopefully this person will get bored and leave but I can't understand why they aren't just simply banned. We already know their intention here is to spam, nothing more. Why do members here have to suffer through these posts to begin with. IMHO send a message and ban them.

a) my request isn't really up for debate

b) once again, mods can't ban. we can delete, lock, and request a ban. Admins are good about staying on top of ban requests.

c) We do not "hope for someone to get bored and leave".

d) Rarely does a thread get derailed b/c of spam, usually a thread is spam to begin with or a post within a thread is deleted as spam.

ooh, it's like multiple choice!! wait...

e) all of the above!

I'm not debating it. On the contrary I'm just stating my opinion. Since all the mods I've encountered do a really good job, I hope that you are able to ban. Again if this deoesn't happen, you guys do your best by closing threads and deleting posts while the spammer just keeps posting until admins ban them. Hence my get bored and leave comment.

Your request is easy enough for all of us to do. Count me in.

it encourages teh spammer to post again becasue he got a reaction?

Thats the point of some of those spam threads.

But no ive been guilty of posting in those threads

though recently ive tried not to, forutently i dont think i have responded to any of those threads in a while
