Tekken 6 Tournaments - Saturday, October 31, 2009 4:57 PM
Hey all I just wanted to tell you that I've been anticipating this gamestop T6 tournament for a while. I've been online and calling stores a lot trying to get info. I have to say that a lot of these Gamestop employees are clueless, I called one yesterday and he didn't even know there was supposed to be one and most of those said they had no idea or whatever. One thankfully was on point. The tournament was today and I was kind of running late because I was trying to get a little more practice in before I left and I ended up playing for too long. I called them and told the Gamestop I was going to be late and they said it wasn't going to be a problem.

They were right because when I went in there I was the only one there for it. They told me that they'll wait a few minutes and if nobody shows up then I win by default. That's what happened too. I was very dissapointed. I was training a lot for this too and yet nobody showe dup and I went to the most crowded Gamestop too.

All I got for a prize were two T-shirts, a metal card and a certificate saying that I am the King of the Iron Fist Tournament 6. *Sight* One of the guys who worked there said that "they usually turn out this way and on the next round you'll probably get to play against somebody."

I hope so because I want to kick someone's ass and make them go. Oh no I can't believe I just got beat by a (........)!

You can comment on my post and use this thread for any of your experiences or any upcoming T6 tournaments out there.

I always wondered what the turnout was like at GameStop tournaments.  You just made me wanna sign up for all of them that I can find.

That really, really sucks. They didn't even have a decent prize, either. I'd've expected some money off vouchers for GameStop purchases or just something with monetary value. A pair of t-shirts and a metal card, a prize does not make.

That remembers me the only one tekken tournament i played, an eliminatory to represent Spain in tekken 3. Trained like a psicho until my heihachi was unbeatable, but none of the extra fighters was unlocked in the shop that hosted the competition.

My other main at that time was Paul but everyone was playing it and was hard to surprise the good players so i played howarang, win some rounds and failed near the end. Those damn ignorants dont put a memory card with all of the cast unlocked.

Now i don't have the time to be good, sadly

Am I the only one who thinks that the online in Tekken 6 is laggy as hell. I had 6 matches and the best I got was a 1 second delay

Yeah it's laggy and hard to get the timing down in combos.  I'm not even gonna try to competitively play online.

I think you should never have gone to a Gamespot toury!

This is 2009, people don't drive out to a store to play against each other.

Search for a game with good ping (green or yellow, never red), most are a lagfest. Sucks to lose with noobs because of the lag

My experience with Tekken 6 online has been nearly flawless. There is little to no input lag. Bob is the best addition to the King of Iron Fist roster in a long while. Maybe it would be fun if we had a thread dedicated to PS3 Teken 6 matches on the N4G forums.

Online is worst than tekken 5 dr, nuff said. Plenty of noobs mashing buttons thanks to slow netcode

And that comes for a longtime tekken player DONT BUY IT!

Nobody showed up because Tekken sucks. It is a second rate fighting series just like Dead or Alive.

I don't know much about Japan but I have read that Virtua Fighter is very popular there.

i wasnt aware of gamestop hosting these tourneys.

had i known me and my brother would have definatly gone and whip a$$.

gamestop has done a awful job letting new york know about this.
My steve Fox is a tactical non juggler knock out artist. My Wang IS TAI CHI in its purest form and If I use Blade errr i mean wesley snipes errr i mean Raven. I would have disoriented everyone.

Im very upset with gamestop now.

I lose to noobs ALL the time playing online. Not only i can't connect any juggles, it's impossible to parry, reverse throws or even block certain moves. Button mashers win quite a bit. Also, sidestepping sucks badly, all the moves follow you.

You're not the only one. The lag is so bad i cant punish anything, and cant do the simplest juggles/bounces/wallsplats.

Best way to win a button masher is to connect some move that lets you in +frames, like two jabs, and continue with some other poke strings fast enough to not be interrupted until they start blocking. Its unfair and doesnt feel good but its impossible to play in a technical way, too laggy

Also the sidestep isnt as good as it was in Tekken 5 DR so take care
