i've never really liked the CC series though

Well it does seem to be always evolving so eventually you might enjoy a CC game

Haha, take your preconceptions and throw them away. Seriously, most of the people I know who like CC(including me) hated the look of them and said they were just crappy spin offs but once you get playing, especially on multiplayer, you'll just have a lot of fun. I converted my brother with Echoes of Time in one day, it's now his favourite DS game(as it is mine).

...and also keep in mind that the more support you give Crystal Chronicles, the more likely an FFIX sequel is going to be made. Well not quite but it's a possibility!

EDIT: We have FF Gaiden on the DS for turn based though(and spiffy hats). The Wii needs some turn based love though.

Well because the people who make Crystal Chronicles are the FFIX devs(Itahana and Tanioka worked on FFIX under Amano and Uematsu respectively) and people at Square have expressed a desire to make an FFIX sequel and "fan" reception for FFIX wasn't great at the time. If they make a major hit it means that the execs are more likely to greenlight an FFIX sequel. The logic is sound. I doubt it will ever happen though.

that would totally be awesome if they did make a remake or a sequel.
it's one of my fav if not my fav FF game.

but yeah, i'll definitely get CC. it looks great in the vids and yeah, i'm getting a Wii anyway so i need games.

Ironically, people hated FFIX for the Chibi style(which was because Itahana loves Chibi style).I would love a sequel though, even if it was just a short RPG focused around Vivi's children(because they're obviously awesome) or something. It's good that you're getting it and hopefully it can change your view on both the Crystal Chronicles series and the Wii.

no no, i don't hate the chibi style or whatever, it's more of the hack 'n slash i don't like, like i said, i prefer the turn-based system more.

Eternal Sonata did a good job at blending the two though, i hope Tri-Crescendo make sequels or more games like that

ahh right, I thought you didn't like the Chibi style because you said about CB looking older, which I thought you meant how the art style makes them look older.

I like the hack n slash personally and it's mixed in well with puzzling and platforming nowadays. I wouldn't want it in the main FF series but I like CC's gameplay precisely because it is something different.

Eternal Sonata's gameplay was odd but enjoyable. I much prefer it going to either extreme though than trying to balance it.

Well Square Enix has moved the Japanese release date forward by two weeks to November 12th. According to rpgsite.net "Square Enix said they decided the game was so complete and fan expectations so high that they decided to move the release date forwards."It sounds like they're really confident in the quality of the game which is definitely a good thing.

They also updated the Japanese site with two videos:

A classic livestock abduction sidequest.

And some cool interactions with balloons.

It's definitely cool how much interaction there is with objects and creatures.

Correction. It's Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles which means significantly less people are looking forward to it. It's also on the Wii, which doesn't exactly help it.

Also if you look around the interwebs there's hardly any hype at all, which is sad because the game looks awesome.

You know what the sad thing is about Crystal Bearers though?

I can already predict that it will get 8s at highest in reviews and I can already see the complaints:
  • It's a Zelda-clone
  • It's an action game without the action due to the fact that the aim isn't to directly fight the enemies.
  • It's a Force Unleashed-clone
  • Lack of JRPG progression
  • Too many gameplay shifts as  you gun, pilot and fight on rails for different parts of the game.
Or may be I'm being paranoid.
