You know what the sad thing is about Crystal Bearers though?

I can already predict that it will get 8s at highest in reviews and I can already see the complaints:
  • It's a Zelda-clone
  • It's an action game without the action due to the fact that the aim isn't to directly fight the enemies.
  • It's a Force Unleashed-clone
  • Lack of JRPG progression
  • Too many gameplay shifts as  you gun, pilot and fight on rails for different parts of the game.
Or may be I'm being paranoid.

who knows, i don't put much weight on reviews these days.

i've played super high rated games and GoTY winners and crap and i was like "meh" and bored or never finished them
and i've played games that scored 5-7's and loved them.

Yer, you're right. It's the same here but it's still sad to see a game you know is really awesome be tore down by reviewers and a lot people do put faith in their reviewers which will then mean less people will get the game, which means less support for the developers, which means less awesome games for us.

so i guess the NA or EU release won't be until like Spring or Summer then eh?

do ports take long to localize for Wii games?

ah well, i'm pretty sure i'll get this game and actually finish it, i've never actually finished a FF:CC game yet.
this one looks really good though.

i hope Fragile is localized ASAP though and it's the game that will really push me to pick up a Wii

US Date is 26th December. Which is a very weird date to pick and could go either way. EU Date hasn't been announced but it will be close to the US Date.

Get ready for a super, mega update of doom people! Well first of all, here's an English language version of the TGS trailer that was uploaded quite a while ago now:

Secondly, previews have been positive for this game, some overwhelmingly. Here's RPGsite's Preview. Also G4 declared it 8th best game at TGS.

Square Enix also uploaded some music samples from the soundtrack and showcased a lot of diversity in the 10 tracks. You can listen to them at Nintendo Everything or through Square Enix's member section. They also want the fans to pick 6 of the 10 to be included in a mini-OST that will be a Pre-order bonus.

There's also been two new, weird but fun short videos uploaded to the web:
Breakdance

Resort

(I'm concerned that the spiky thing just dissappears but it's possible that this is a slightly older build as some of the older videos definitely were)

Finally it's been reported that chances of a 2009 EU release are slim. The game wasn't included in Nintendo's Q4 release list and it's barely making it to the US in 2009. However Nintendo didn't have Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days listed and they didn't have Dragon Quest Wars on their downloadables list and both of those games are releasing this month.

*goes back to listening to awesome samples*.

Actually my bet is that its done for efficiency.
its just being reset to its original starting point and thats in the thingy blasting all the water out.
Its a cheaper way to recycle objects without actually destroying them first.

I love the breakdance video, it reminds me of that horrible video with that kid who got kicked by a real dancer.

Yer that's what I thought, but it's still a little jarring. It should at least gradually fade rather than just dissappear. The graphics certainly look good in the video though, some nice detail.

Well it is a "background"  thingy, so i take their priority isn't high.
It would make sense if that beach-part is in the overworld as well, if not then yeah they could have done it differently.

This game needs to come out already, its been a while since i looked forward to a FF game.

Yer, Nier doesn't look too hot graphically and he should really sort his own sh*t out first. I think Crystal Bearers has a much, much better art style than Nier though.

Re:The Crystal Bearers - Friday, October 09, 2009 3:52 PM
Two new videos have been released to day showing off the awesome and beautiful environments:

Forest

Harvest

I like the fact that they have shadows for the clouds. Also that the clouds move, nice attention to detail, although I don't think that particular detail is rare.

But now I'm starting to wonder what they could achieve if they had a budget even comparable to what the mainline Final Fantasy games get.

EDIT: Found this quote from the ESRB via Siliconera:

"Some female characters wear revealing fantasy outfits and bikinis that expose deep cleavage. During one sequence at the beach, a woman accuses a man of peeping on her in an outhouse changing room (e.g., "How icky of you to watch girls changing!" and "You were peeping?!"). In one mini-game, two women in bikinis try to knock each other off a floating platform using only their hips. Players will also encounter multiple alcohol references during their adventure: wine casks, barrels, and bottles (e.g., "Rainbow Wine") can be found in some locations; a goblin samurai holding a sake-shaped bottle appears to be drunk; and players can visit a winery and uncork kegs and barrels, allowing the wine to pour onto the floor. If players wish to, they may pick up steaming manure and toss it at enemies or the bucolic surroundings."

The Drunk Goblin Samurai will be an interesting encounter. He can be seen using Gil Toss in the TGS trailer.

It seems to be a bigger adventure...

Re:The Crystal Bearers - Tuesday, October 13, 2009 3:45 PM
Well it was announced today that the Crystal Bearers promotional campaign in Japan will be using Bon Jovi's new single "We Weren't Born to Follow" instead of the typical Jpop stuff. It's got some mixed reactions from people but the song's pretty good and fits the feel of Crystal Bearers I think, what about you guys?
