I wonder if the bigger cars are competitive online. This is my main complaint about burnout, it's too difficult to crash all these F1's with my thunder custom. I like steady and fast cars to rumble opponents

By bigger cars, if you mean monster trucks, monster cars and big rigs, then yes....they are competitive online.  Just as in M1, keep a steady and precise line and use your heavy weight to fend off defenders and you've got as good a chance (if not better) than motorcycles and rally cars.  The balancing in the game is terrific in that all of the water elements have their purpose, i.e., deeper water will slow down the smaller vehicles & is more difficult to go through with anything other than a monster truck, big rig, or racing truck, but even a little water that splashes the undercarriage will cool down your engine (no matter what vehicle you're in) so you get get a little extra boost with the cool down.

Going back to an earlier point, it just blows my mind that SCE won't advertise this game a bit more...it just doesn't make sense.  Wonder what Evolution thinks about that?  :sigh:

That's what i wanted to hear, i hate that everyone pick the same cars online, the ones with better handling, like wipeout or burnout (very good games for the most part). 12 hours from now and i will play it. SCE advertises nothing, its a shame

ORIGINAL: logontree

I am a motorstormer from the first day the original came out and all who have played it know my name as i was one of the top drivers on motorstorm 1. Then came motorstorm 2 and damn it im hooked that much more! I have already completed the festival and have all the trophies but 4 and those are won by playing online and so off to work i go to complete it..I have already made it to level three and going strong. My first weeks of it I spent playing nothing but time trials and my name is posted on all tracks in the top of the leader boards. Vicrad is going strong online and he is the one to beat at this point.... this game is so  much different than the first,in the first edition you won by your skill of speed on this one you have to fight your way to the front and part of me doesnt like that but the graphics are so great i cant help but go with the flow...I just wish they intergrated the monster trucks in a manner they wernt the strongest on the online track...for those who are trying to beat the festival...good luck because there are a few tickets that will seem impossible to beat but I wouldnt take a defeat and persisted to get the gold...I am behind online but I wanted to spend the first few weeks learning so the online experience wasnt so intimidating  besides it just gives me a reason to push my abilities of driving online when im behind on stats..to those of you that already who know me, see you on the tracks and those of you who dont....you will know me cuz ill be the one in the monster truck running you over under the name of logontree

I followed a similar path as you, from Motorstorm to Pacific Rift, and am also heavily engaged in the sp experience right now.  I'll tell you that this is some of the best a.i. in racing opponents that I have ever seen.

You'll see my name there as well logontree on the old  boards, probably been knocked down a little bit by now as "Wreckreation" really wasn't as much fun to me as straight online comp, but I will be participating a lot heavier in the time trials this time around.  This game is f'n gorgeous and I love the fact that as you state, you have to "fight" your way to the front, but that just makes winning so much more rewarding.  The scenery and setpieces can be a huge distraction.  Take your eyes off the road for a moment to look at beutiful horizon and the next thing you know you're flying 1,700 ft. from the side of a gorge.

I'll add you if you don't mind.

@dragunov - this game will test every fiber of your vg racing skills. Persistence, persistence, persistence.  I have completed the sp campaign as well and am shy of 4 medals to have all gold in each ticket.  Wreckreation and online trophies are coming soon after.  I will never trade or sell this game.

@ logontree - dude when saving your pics in photo mode go to your garage and then ----> Gallery. From there you can view each pic and then export them to the PS3 HD.  Then, transfer them to a memory stick or your PC and then download them to a folder for linking to N4G through one of the many hosting sites like hot links (you probably already know that).

@no Pud_ - Believe me I love me some Gran Turismo like no one else, but this game shouldn't be slept on my friend. I don't know how to describe it.....but I will attempt:  Gran Turismo gives you the purest form of racing and manipulation of cars available on any platform...from historical cars, to dealer/showroom cars to homologated models, Le Mans, F-1, and even concept, along with all of the intricacies of each track as well as the intricacies of each car down to the most basic physical detail.

Motorstorm does this, not with fancy high end model replicas, but with cars and trucks we all recognize (Chevy Vans, Ford Trucks, Dodge, Toyota,  and Volkswagen cars, etc...) and could see blasting down the California Baja through beautiful Wesetern Mexico, (and in this case a Pacific Island) or pushing the limits of height advantage when Monster Trucks invade our local sports arenas here in the States.  Now, imagine all of these cars -- fully and I mean fully destructible, with controlled boost on absolutely beautiful tracks, from the jungles with waterfalls, to volcanic mountain sides, to the wide open beach, and even calderras --  with crazy camber angles on them (racing on the side of a cliff) and undulations that you must remember from track to track so that you can keep a straight line -- (not uncommon from remembering all the undulations of Nurburgring, remember?).  In GT, collisions are avoided at all cost and not apropos to the action.  In PR, they are rite of passage.  You learn to deal with them, avoid them, and give a good nudge at the appropriate times.

Another thing, is that these photos (as good as they are) do not do the game justice at all.  What I mean is that in motion with all of the elements flying by at once and water and mud dripping from your visor;  it is all a beautiful swirl of action.  I don't know what else to say without writing a short "book review" on the game which I'm sure no one wants to read.   In short:  Buy the damn game!

@dragunov - you've been added but you're not on....I think, like someone else vvvvvv.

@bloodmask - why don't you add me?

I'll be adding some more pics when I get back from a meeting I have to attend here in a bit.   Go buy the game people - seeing is believing.

I loved Motorstorm Jack, and for me and other Motorstormers that I know -- (and for the lack of a better analogy) this game is off road crack cocaine, laced with black tar heroin. Evolution outdid themselves with this one; there is simply no other game like it (or Motorstorm for that matter).

edit/ @ logontree - yeah I've had problems with my time trials posting as well, but I guess the servers are some sort of timed update intervals -- hopefully more than once a week lol, but no seriously I was actually racing against your Mudplugger ghost yesterday at Kanloa Bay and posted a 108:42, but it hasn't shown yet (I haven't checked today) -- you had a 108:22 -- good job!  Getting around that rock on the backside stretch is a bitch.  Anyway, if they don't post soon, I'll head on over to the boards and gripe.

This spot still gives me goosebumps.  http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/Games/MotorStorm_Pacific_Rift

I liked the demo but the full game puts the demo to shame. The last night i played 5 hours without any pause.

Yeah man...it's so easy to do with all of the freaking challenges and game mods available on Time trials.  I said that Evolution outdid themselves...well Sony has gone and outdone themselves also -- the lack of advertising for this outstanding title shows they have their heads squarely up there arses.......Jeez......hire Ken Kutaragi dammit, at least he'll stir the freaking pot -- the current lot doesn't even have the burner turned on!

Well... I'm getting this. I wanted to get Undercover, but horrific reviews have led me to believe I'm better off picking up my PS2 pad and playing Most Wanted instead. So I'm getting Pacific Rift alongside Burnout Paradise as my PS3 racing fix. I mean, if people are talking about this game in the same way I talk about DMC3 or FFVII, then it has to be amazing.

No offense Corrupt, but this is one of England's very finest; you won't be disappointed.

btw -- does anyone know how to get the big ass Caterpillar earth mover monster truck?  I want that thing sooooo bad.  I've beat everything with all golds but still don't have it.  Maybe it's something that has to be achieved online only?

I love monster trucks too, they can past over anything without losing speed, mud, water, vegetation, houses, opponents... I won an online race today with a monster, trapling some bikes and cars, epic!
