Just watched this... wow, CBS can put out some good shows.  I know it's based off of a mini series, though I haven't yet seen it.  Plan to watch it after this.  I'm only one episode in and I see myself enjoying this more than Flash Forward.  Plus, it has the very sexy, though dikish looking Inara from firefly.  :)

Having remembered the original mini series as well as the final battle mini series I can say that this is really a departure from that. It was said it would be somewhat true to the originals but after watching it I found a few issues that just get to me.

The main one is the use of the name "V's" throughout. In the original it was represented as the symbol for victory in the fight against the "visitors". In this one they use it to denote the race or something like that. Always speaking in third person as the V's are doing this or we are the V's here to help you. It got a little annoying after awhile.

Then it was just to short. It should have been two hours at least like the original. I am wondering if this is supposed to be a mini series (like the original) or a regular series. Sometimes you just don't know with ABC. I thought lost was a mini series but it just kept going and going and going so I decided to start from the beginning and watch all episodes up to the second season. That is when I started watching it on a regular basis. V could be a series as I think it is coming back early next year after a few weeks run currently.

Overall I think it has legs and if they decide to make it even remotely close to the original then I can already see how it turns out. Hopefully they keep it fresh and I know already the special effects make it waaaaayyy better than the first. I am looking forward to next week. It will be hard for this show to take off with competition of flash forward (great concept) and soon to be final season of lost (so so sad to see it go).

As a Lost fan I will be watching that solely to get some questions answered.  Not to enjoy it, the ending to the last one and plans for the upcoming season are retarded.

The latest one is actually starting to tie together the other ones. As with some series, they may start off slow but this one is moving along nicely. The guy that played charlie from lost is playing a really sinister type of scientist in this series. He and a few others are the cause of the blackout although more will be revealed as it progresses.

As for V...so long as they dont get campy like the original (think hot air balloons in the final battle series) and make it really action packed with the resistance and visitors and the whole "how long have they been here before" story...could be good.

I actually missed the premiere of this, but I definitely intend to check it out.  The guy above me is right too.  It's ABC.  I know this because it gets advertised during Flash Forward which is on the same network as Lost which is definitely ABC.  They can definitely throw a great show together when they want to because they got all those Disney bucks behind the network.
