I don't know why this happened, but I'm now getting extremely horrible MGO lag. Yes, it started happening tonight after the 2.40 update, but COD4 online works completely fine so I don't think that's the problem.

MGO worked fine a few days ago. Since I started playing today, I've joined numerous hosts and had terrible lag, or been disconnected. My connection is also unstable in my friend's game, and I can play fine with him in COD.

Anyone else have bad MGO lag issues recently?

I feel sorry for you, dude, I really do. I haven't tried MGO since downloading the update. But if 2.4 ruins MGO, then I might have to roll back to the previous software version... I can't have anything ruining my fun...

I feel like breaking my disc. The only thing keeping me from doing this is that MGS4 is also on that disc. This is unacceptably horrible. Complete lagouts, I die twice all the time (if someone kills me, I die and immediately die again, counting as 2 deaths) and I disconnect from 90% of the games I connect to. My mic is delayed as hell and choppy, according to my friends when I play with them.

I played COD4 for at least half an hour with me hosting, and then my friends, and it was fine. At first I was pointing the finger at 2.40 since MGO used to work flawlessly. But since COD is absolutely fine, now I honestly don't know what the hell is going on.

Check the disc... Make sure there are no scratches or anything on it. You never know. After that, I'd check to make sure your MGS4 data hasn't corrupted or anything with the download of the update. It's possible.

MGS4 is working fine I think...I'm pretty sure it's lag and disconnections that are causing trouble.

I'll play MGS4 more thoroughly tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure for problems like this, the cause is a connection problem -- but it should affect all my online games, and it doesn't.

Alright, thanks.

If anyone has any MGO connection tips...feel free to post them.

Although I was fine when I played a few days ago, and before that as well. I had been in multiple matches with no problems.

My mic seems to mess up with MGO a lot more after FW2.40 too. But yet again, my mic is fine in COD.

This is just really frustrating.

Some of you may not know this, but I read it its some where in the mgo thing that says after midnight there is always maitnence on the mgo servers and it asks you to logout. The reason everyone else can kill may be cause there in a different timezone.

Wait wait seriously?! It's after midnight here and I'm lagging out and playing horribly, but only in MGO.

If you are right about this, then you must be God in human form.

since its on a Blu-Ray he would need his chainsaw to produce scratches and online lag hardly has anything to do with the physical disc, for online games lag is almost always attributed to the Internet connection and then software like poor game code or bad patches .If Satanas says this only started after the 2.4 update and people he has played with had no problem then there is a good chance its either related to corrupted data on the HDD because of the update or his Internet connection simply crapped out

I would think the Internet connection deal to be true, but like I said, COD4 is perfect online, my headset is too. Only MGO is suddenly horrible to play.

Are you sure? You never know who could be.

Anyway, getting on topic, thanks for the input.

I'll see how the game is tomorrow...hopefully better, since your explanation makes sense. Otherwise, theoretically COD4 should not work well for me either.

I guess maybe specific servers for different areas/timezones are undergoing maintenance? I was getting disconnected a lot randomly, and this was right around and just after midnight until about 1:30 am.

I seriously hope so. I'm glad phil here brought that news to my attention...I'm a little less worried now.

Hmm this is weird. On the MGO news part, it says servers were causing random disconnects around the time I was having trouble, but that they fixed the problem.

So I joined a new game, and had the same exact horrible lag problems. I'm guessing MGO or Konami hate me, and want me to not unlock the Scanning Plug, so that I can never get to say "I unlocked everything in MGS4," as it's the only thing I don't have.
