Status: offline 		first i must apologize to the forum mods for my first post on this subject.  it was more of a rant than actually getting to my discussion i wanted to embark on.  my apologies.

first off...this article http://www.n4g.com/ps3/NewsCom-141530.aspx?CT=1 approved by the N4G contributors was posted 3 days ago.  it was an interview with Doug Lambordi about L4D and various other topics.  11 members interested in Valve commented...good times...all good. 

so today...this article http://www.n4g.com/dev/NewsCom-142145.aspx?CT=1 with the quote from the interview as the story title "Valve - we are not ps3 developers" blows up to almost 300 comments as i write this.  many of whom are flaming the hell outta Valve calling them "lazy", "no talent hacks", "stupid for not buying into the powa" that is the ps3.  (i am a ps3 owner). 

o.O  why is it that all of a sudden Valve is a no talent, lazy bunch of hacks?  HL1, HL2, the birthplace of tactical shooters with CS, Portal, TF2...all AAA titles suddenly no talent?  sure Gabe doesnt like the ps3.  thats his opinion.   but as stated per article "we dont have the resources to tackle programming for the ps3" are they lazy?  what makes them "lazy" when they have a business outline they want to follow releasing games on familiar hardware....PC/360? 

to me...with an article posted on this site with the interview stating the same exact quote as the 2nd article....the 1st which no one but 11 of us cared to comment on let alone care about....it fueling this stupid hatred for a great developer who over time and time again has produced AAA quality games.  the only reason i can see for such hatred is jealously. 

my question is do you really hate Valve or do you hate the fact their games arent coming to ps3?  do you really think they are lazy and not talented enough to make a ps3 game?  with 10 years of expirence i dont see a developer with mutilply great games being lazy and not talented.  your thoughts....and please be civil.

Status: online 		Wasn't because some of the high end people in Valve were originally from Microsoft? It would make sense.

they made counterstrike, and that fact will always remain deep in my heart

Status: offline 		well valve will be ok in my book because of counterstrike.  But I gotta be honest here, I started hating them with the introduction of steam and having to pay to play CS 1.6 online.. that was utter bull crap.

CS is/was such a great game.  i stopped playing it cuz i was tired of being killed by an awp every two seconds and the hackers.  TF:2 has taken close to 300 hours of my gaming time because of its uniqueness...personality of the toons, and its stress on team game play.  very underrated imo.

it just pisses me off to no end that a developer that produces such quality gets lambasted because of the fanboys.

i know and i tell myself that but it still pisses me off.  ppl dont know what Valve has done for gaming with CS and with innovations like HL1 to HL2.  even TFC with its stress on teamwork over deathmatch.

lol yeah CS puts A LOT of begginers off straight away

its hard to stick with, but its so satisfying eventually becoming "teh pwn"

Status: offline 		oh i played CS for about 3 years.  its was fun ass hell (espically after some of those mushrooms of magic ;)  but alas...i found the BF series.  very fun with its vehicles and squads.

They can come out and say the PS3 is a piece of crap and that they hate Sony and I would still think they're the greatest PC game makers out there.

Plus, I'm a big fan of Steam.

With all of that said: Everyone has to go buy TF2 on PC and then we can all play :)

lol!  yeah that was amusing.  same with "And that is why they will never be a top notch developer. When companies like Infinity Ward can make a completely multiplatform game and make it awesome, that is when you see true development beauty. If Valve wants to stick to what's easy for them then they will always be second and third best but never first. I hope they are content being a "joe somebody". 

seriously?  i didnt know the "developers bible" states that you have to make a great game over 3 platforms to be a "top notch developer".  idiotic way of thinking.  so i guess ND and Insomniac and ICO and Square with the FF series and Valve and the list goes on are not up to snuff with all mighty IW.

same Steam gives you YEARS of fun for a very cheap price

well.... cheap for me because of the weak ass $

seriously, I can buy every game Valve ever made for just £50, which is just daylight robbery on my part

Status: offline 		I don't hate them..I just don't respect them as much as other GREAT developers that keep their mouth shut and just make games.  Fatboy Newell is a disgrace to all the other hardworking developers in the team.  And obviously the obese, future heart attack victim doesn't like to be challenged or pushed in his work....hence his hate towards PS3.

My sentiments exactly. Plus, being Canadian, I don't pay taxes, and the games are priced so low it's a sin not to buy them.
