Now that next gen started, I've been thinking, why haven't we seen games with unique art styles. Something like this for example could easily be done on a next gen platform, so why don't people create games with art styles like this. I'll certainly buy this, and most likely alot of people will too. With next gen games, why should develoipers limit themselves to creeating only realistic games visually. TF2 was okay, but even that was static (looked like a pixar movie). I want to see some gaMes that look like artwork this gen.

I consider Crackdown and Bioshock to have unique art styles.

Patapon, Bioshock, that new upcoming Nazi game that is black and white, Fallout 3 all have unique art styles.  I'm sure I could think of many more... especially when it comes to Wii games.  Mario Galaxy anyone?

Well, the problem is that those game fail commercially.

Psychonauts didn't sell.
Okami didn't sell.
Loco Roco didn't sell. (At least, not in Japan or Europe)
Patapon didn't sell.
Crush didn't sell.
Folklore didn't sell.

The only games that people pay for these days are either grey / gritty looking military shooters or cartoonish Nintendo games like Mario and Brawl.
Half games are UE3 powered that look like Gears and the other half look like Nintendo cartoons.

Still, likes of Mirror's Edge give us some hope and so does the new Prince of Persia and of course, the insanely awesome Little Big Planet.

Everything from Team Ico is art, even the story is an art form in itself. I'm really interested on what they have instored for us this time around; I won't expect a sequel though since they don't do sequels per se.

If all games have unique art styles then all of the games will not be unique.

I don't get it... if their art styles are unique from each other, they are still unique.
