What kills your PS3 faster Dust or a faulty firmware download?
-

Okay, this one is something that i've been asking myself lately and the reason i've been asking myself this question is because my Ps3 is freezing a lot this days, the reason? well, i have no clue, what i do know is that it's start doing it after the latest firmware update, i am not saying that the firmware update is the cause of it but i never had any problem before it, even my brand new dualshock 3 controller stoped working after the update. Everytime i read comments about ylod, reading disc failure or freezing problems people say that this happens because they don't take care of their console, but is it really because of that? i do take care of my ps3, i'm always trying to keep it clean but the feezing problem does not stop, so is it really the dust that's killing my PS3 or is it SONY careless firmwares that are killing my 600USD 60gb PS3?

thats a good analysis, but i dont think dust is the problem unless its excessive? i have read alot of threads that the new updates are getting ahead of themselves, i have tthe same ps you have and it does freeze every now and then.

My new 80gb rarely freezes. I haven't had any problems with firmware, though *knock on wood. I did have one friend who got YLOD because of dust buildup, though. Clean that system!

I used to play my old 60GB PS3 a lot and I took good care of it but it went YLOD. I have a friend that barely used to play it but when he turned it on a couple of days ago to play Uncharted 2 his 80GB PS3 went YLOD, the console even had a very old FW because it was the first time in one year since he turned it on once. That makes me believe that YLOD it's something that happens very randomly.
