Not only is it bringing us In Game messaging and trophies, but its bringing us a whole lot more, heres the full list of what 2.4 is bringing us:

In-game Messaging
Trophies
In-game chat
Compare Trophies
Change to another game, while playing a game
Check downloads while in-game
In-game settings
Clock and date feature
In-game music
Google search bar
Gamercards
and more to be revealed soon...

what else could they possibly pack into this update? How long is this going to take to download? When will this be released? (lets place bets on these)

apart from google you can do all that staright out of the box on 360...im not all in arms like some people who think this is the second coming of christ..people say "sony never fail to deleiver" or "thank you sony this is amazing" what the F*** people this should of been hear from the start.

LIVE is an already established online infrastructure from last gen (with numerous features carried over from the original Xbox time period), so of course it currently has more online features than the much younger PSN (which was built from the ground up for this generation). Though I will say that PSN (and the PS3) is expanding fairly rapid which is impressive to say the least.

I think this will mean i use my PS3 a lot more so it can only be a good thing. It is a bit late to the party though, the 360 has these features and a few more still.

I have a few questions, hopefully someone can help;

will i be able to play music from my HDD on any game and it removes the in-game music?

Can i invite friends into my game that might be on a different game?

Can you get a web browser up while in game? - That would be sweet!

As far as I can tell:

No - I don't think the in-game music works on all games

No - I think the invites thing will come with Home, you can send messages though

No - It would be nice though

while i'm pleased to have these new features, it should have been there day 1 like the 360, so I wont thank Sony, but I do wonder now that all this stuff is finally nearly here what will be coming next from them

The studio that makes it will need to release a firmware update to allow you to play music ingame and i also believe you have to turn the ingame music down yourself. (thats what i saw them do on a walkthrough anyways on gametrailers.

It hasnt been said in the videos or anything, so im not sure if it'll be in this firmware update.

shut up and enjoy it, otherwise sell you damn PS3 and buy a 360 or whatever, i dont need to play online with a bunch of whinny babys who have nothing better to do than to cry about ever small thing sony hasnt done yet. It takes time to make a great console and community, just look at the 360 it has a horrible hardware failure and the community is filled with a bunch of 12 year olds playing halo 2.5

thing is though how could they do that with a firmware update. i thought it was a chip inside the ps3

Am i the only one STILL not interested in trophy crap. I don't see myself replaying any games for trophies fvk that. I'm tired. The only game i would replay for trophies is MGS4

no, let's just not ask for these features at all. so what if it's coming out sooner or later. it's coming out and it's great for the consumer.
maybe the 360 should have been reliable from the start and not fixed later right?

only the 60GB has the EE chip, the 80GB is emulated via software, that's how it can be added to the 40GB

Is it safe to say psn is at least on par to live now? psn being free and having less time to do their features right. I would say they have done a damn good job
