Status: offline 		I have been debating with myself on getting a PS3. i have owned a playstation 1 & 2 but since xbox came out i have jumped bandwagons not going to lie. so i was wondering if you guys can give me some advice. i would like to know the pros and cons of the PS3. i have been asking around but noone can persuade me to get a PS3 and i would like someone who is a PS loyal fan(s) that knows what they are talking about give me advice. pwease

Status: offline 		One major advantage you have is the familiarity of what Playstation has to offer in game content.  That should be your major consideration.  Games such as Twisted Metal, Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, God of War are some big reasons to consider buying a PS3.

Status: offline 		Yes the pros and cons of any system should be placed on the games.  PS3 has a nice list of 'found only here' titles

Status: offline 		true game content. i do regret giving my PS2 away. i do miss the good ol' games that came out for PS2. but besides game content is there anything else excluding blu ray

there's a funky web browser built in

you get a decent online service for free

all the exclusives (excluding The Agency and the NCsoft MMO's) can only be found on PS3 and not the PC

there's tons of games coming out soon

Home will come..... hopefully before you die

you get funky Sixaxis controls with your games

great content on the PSstore

you can run Linux on it, and then emulate windows if you want

you can upgrade your HDD with any 2.5in SATA drive

need I go on?

some more reasons....

1) reliablity of the hardware

2) wifi if you cant run a wire

3) blu ray player if you like HD movie player and game console in one

Status: offline 		The online service is moderate at best. You get what you pay for, with PS3 you pay nothing. If you expect it to have the features of Xbox Live, you will be disappointed.  Other than that, there are no really big cons to speak about.  Except for the fact that it has taken an extensive amount of time for those great games to come out. 

I dont think the PS3 will truly hit it's stride until next year or possibly 2010. But there are several great games that can be enjoyed in the meantime.  PSP just now really started to take off and I believe it was released in 04.  Dont expect a plethora of games to be available at this moment in time for PS3, however there are a handful of games to choose from.

its big, sexy and stylish, but very very big

you'll have to dust it A LOT to mantain its sexiness

you might be confused as to which model to get- 40 or 80gb? it depends on wether you want to play your old PS2 games

some multi-plat games take ages to come to PS3 after the x360 release, but thats mainly a thing of the past- the only game this year scheduled to do that is Alone in the Dark

Status: offline 		A good point to make about PSN is that their original games are more original and ballsy. In my opinion, they're usually much more fun than most of the XBLA crap that's shoveled out the door.

Everyday Shooter
Flow
PixleJunk Monsters
Stardust HD

Those are just a couple examples of 90+/100 games (to me).

Status: online 		Pros: Since you own a ps1 and ps2 you will be familiar with the well known ps3 titles, online is free but less content than the 360, really sexy gloss finish, great games coming up.

Cons: It really is the waitstation.

Status: offline 		There is one advantage to PSN, though, and that's the PSN games being way better than the XBLA games, half of which are nothing more than re-hashes of "retro" games.

You have to buy Super Stardust HD. You have to.

Status: offline 		i know they dont make the 80GB for the PS3 anymore. i been reading on the internet that there is a rumor that they might come out with a MGS4 bundle with a 120GB. is this true and should i wait for that bundle to come out if it is true

I agree... the game on PSN are 10 times better than the ones on live... Mostly because they are not restricted in size....
There is more to them since they can be large in size....
