finally after firmware 2.4/2.41 has been released.... what firmware updates will the future hold?
I wanna see all the ideas my fellow N4G members.

Personally the one thing i really want is the ability to do other things while an update is going on? I would like to be able to at least watch a blu-ray movie or listen to some music or heck even surf the web while i am waiting. Oh and the ability to talk with my friends over voice chat regardless of what game we might be playing at the time. Just a quick invite and the conversations come flowing in......what do you think?

Stuff like that aren't necessary. What i would like are auto installs for downloads that require install or if possible background installation. I don't think i am really in need of any features that aren't already answer in home

I would like Sony to make a deal with Mozilla and integrate a Mozilla Firefox web browser.

The only thing I want my PS3 to do is be able to install things like MGS4 or DMC4 in the background while I do something else... I hate having my PS3 clogged up and unuseable while it's installing a new game. I do like the idea, however, of greater connectivity between the PSP and PS3 (like downloading PSP demos from the PStore?), and maybe even the ability to transfer stuff like pictures and videos from my C902i to my PS3...

Blu-Ray ripping. So you can play them on your PSP.

Edit: I'm talking about movies.

How about background downloads for the updates, the ability to set dates for future downloads (possibly for a purchase not released yet), or the power to rip psone games right off your disc onto your ps3 drive. These are just some of my requests on my wishlist.

A compatible flash player would be nice, but I guess thats not really in Sony's court.

That would be awesome. I love Firefox. Sure as hell not touching Explorer again.

side idea:

copy ps2 and ps1 games over to the hard drive to play them then you dont need the disc

I want it to recognize more types of video codec. There also seems to be an issue where if a DivX or XviD file isn't in exactly the right resolution it won't play. Finally, considering they're in direct competition with MS and they allow you to install Linux on your console, one would think it would be easier to setup a UPNP server on a Mac or Linux machine. Or at least to setup one that your PS3 will recognize. I got it to work, but it was way harder than it needed to be.
