i went to gamestop to ask what time should i be there to get GTA4 b/c i never do midnight releases. I ask the guy what time would be best if I want to be near the front of the line. Then he says, "IDK, the lines open at 11pm." And he starts ranting on about some stuff and says something about ppl who have it fully paid off. So I ask, how does this go, is there like separate lines for those of us who have the game preordered and fully paid off? And then he informs me that "Unfortunately, some people have not reserved it but if they are in line before the others, once tehy pay, they will get their games before the rest of us who have our game preordered/paid off.

So, it appears as if i was ripped off for preordering since the other ppl will still get their games before me if I don't get their in time, and if they run out before the people at the end of the line(who may have preordered theirs) that would be unfair...at least to me it would be.

I'm not doing a midnight launch but I do preorders because they aren't really a nuisance or anything, so I figure, I might as well.

I'm not standing in line for a game, I can wait until the store opens in the morning and go pick it up. But I like preordering because I can just go in and pick up the game on release with no worries. I'll be pissed if they mix up my version or sell it though. ..

I only pre-order MGS games (LE MGS4 for example), the rest I can bare without pre-ordering. (still doesn't mean that I won't get it though, just maybe not at the same time as the release date)

I'm not going to stand in line for this game... I just did the online pre-order, they guarantee it will arrive at my doorstep launch day. Otherwise i'd have to risk getting to the store tuesday afternoon and there not being any left. Which is very likely.

I pre-order mine online and have it shipped to my house. I don't want to spend my time trying to get someone to unlock the case at Best Buy or waiting in a line.

I've never pre-ordered a game in my life and I most likely never will. I do not understand why people pre-order titles anyway. Most of you act as if a retailer will run dry on copies. Neither do I understand why people will camp in front of a store to buy a specific item. I like to purchase items in stores like a normal person.

Yeah but sometimes, when it comes to LE's, it's somewhat safer to pre-order if you REALLY want it and want to assure it.

its a money game & this is to no one suprise gamestop is a rip off + they really have no big competition so its likely nothing will change soon

Exactly. For example, my preorder of my NGS LE was the only copy in my entire EB Games when I bought it day one. Why bother risking anything like that if you can very easily preorder it? The NGS LE is pretty much sold nowhere now.

when you make a preorder, you are paying for your copy and guaranteeing it in stock, even if people wait in line for 20 days for the game, they have to hold your copy for you since you preordered it months before launch...If i showed up after everyone picked up their copy (ie after the maddness), and they didn't have my copy since they sold it, heads would role if they told me they sold it...that guy that said if peopel waiting in line get it first, hes wrong, you preordered your copy, Gamestop has to hold it for you, unless theres some retarded agreement that we agree too walking in the store that were not aware of i don't know what i would do but im hinting to the person who tells me my this (my copy of GTA 4 is sold) is not gonna be working at gamestop

My mom works at walmart and they get it on release so no pre-ordering for me just skip in front of every1 in line and get my preserved copy for 10% off

I won't to the midnight launch. I did for Halo 3 and got home 1:30 a.m. Since this is a MP game the lineup will be huge. Gotta work the next day.

That's how I did it too. The shop I order games from always make sure I get the game on launch day.

All I know is when I preordered Patapon, they only got one copy in the store and it was mine. Also not preordering DMC4 forced me into having to purchase the LE which I DIDN'T want but no store in the vicinity had any other version of the game. So two lessons learned this year about securing things I want.
