What are you thoughts.
So far we know:
it will cost $30.
Its not a headset
usb
Offical games to use it Animal Crossing,The Conduit.
Multi person community microphone.
It will include noise filtering software that Miyamoto notes as being why the device cost as much as it does.(which is way cheaper then ps3 or xbox bluetooth headsets.)

Only thing i can think of where this could get better is backward compatibility with other hits such as Mario Kart and SSBB

Your thoughts.

It's dumb. You pour some water in a glass cause you got thirsty and everyone might think you're taking a piss

Hmm... Nintendo are seriously overdoing the whole Wii Brand of peripherals and games... Where's the real stuff? Maybe if they used the headset in a real game that'll actually use it (Super Smash Bros. Brawl, say), then I might be interesed. But at it's current state? Nowai.

Exactly my thought. I remember a time when games were made for consoles, not to sell some other ****ty periphal.
Why do I call it ****ty wthout having tested it? How many games do you think will use this abomination? Two so far. I bet my ass it won't be much more. Mario Kart would have needed something like that, Brawl too. Animal Crossing? Personally, I'm not interested in talking with people about picking oranges.
Nintendo made a cheap yet innovative console, the problem is that the hardware is dry. Devs know the hardware since they got their hands on the GameCube dev kits, only that they now got a minimal boost in terms of raw power. They can only make so much more with what is left within that white plastic case, now they look for ways to hide the weak points.
Wii Music doesn't need good graphics. Why? Because 90% of the time you play you will move your body like you violently throw up or something similar- sorry, meant to type "play the sax".
ClassicController, Nunchuck, WiiMotePlus, Wii Fit Mat, WiiSpeak... five addons already. Wait for the TGS or next E3 where they announce their own bastardization of the EyeToy.
I remember people - me included - laughing at SEGA because of the 32X and SEGA CD, calling it life support. Those were two things that actually improved the console (more processingpower/storage). Now Nintendo has five addons, not for their console, but just for input and nobody seems to care. How is that not life support?

Roy, I don't think they're trying to hide the weak points, I think they're focusing on motion controls, which is what it was made for.  It's so different that devs don't know what to make for it.  So they figure they'll stick to the same route they were going, where you press a button to do an action.  I just think it's the industry, as well as the fans of the past are unwilling to change.  This is why the peripherals are getting no support. Even though massive amounts of people want it (look at wii fit).  Wii Speak sounds useful.  You can't bash till you try it with a mind open to new ideas.  mjones1994, you should be more articulate if you want people to ever take you seriously.

Ya know, no matter how much you cry about it, Lots of Wii-owners only got the Wii-mote+Nunchuck.
And that's pretty much enough.
I'm not buying Wii-fit
I'm not buying any Gun-shell
I'm not buying a Classic Controller
etc etc.

Why are people bothered by the hardware stuff they make?
Software takes much longer to make thats why you don't see it coming along as fast as these hardware pieces.

Did you get a Classic controller? Did you get Wii-fit? are you going to get Wii-Speak?
yes? then it's your own doing
If not then what the hell are you crying about?

"  but just for input and nobody seems to care. "
The input is what made the Wii so popular today.
Why do you think they make these extra things.

Input = how you play games, pretty weird that you think its something no one cares about.

OT:
It's better late then never.
Not sure if I'm getting it, screaming people always annoy me >=(

If it's as good as the eyetoy's microphone than it could be really useful.

I think its better then a headset just because i dont like having something on my head while playing a game.I prolly wont buy it just because i dont care one bit about voice chat but i do think for all the people who love community style games like a strategic war game or something of that nature,i think this would work very well for them.
Funniest part about it is Apple has had a build in microphone in their imacs for about 5 years or so now and that works great for voice chat. That i do know from experience about.Like i said before......better then a headset imo.

To all the people complaining about the periphs ...dont buy them then.I own 2 controllers a classic controller and two wii wheels(both of which i got for free).I bought 3 peripherals thats not alot people.

Actually, apart from a ClassicController, I didn't bother to buy any of the stuff. I got a second WiiMote though, but only because it came with WiiPlay.
Now, about me crying & whining about the hardware: I'm not bothered at all. It's just that when I think of the Wii, I (recently) think of major selling games like Wii Fit. Then immediately Link's Crossbow Training comes to my mind. Yes, there are some great games (personally, I enjoyed No More Heroes and Super Paper Mario the most), but I think it's still funny to see that they see a need for all those addons. Plus even when they are out, they don't use them to the fullest.
As - The Corrupt - already said, games like Brawl or Mario Kart would have needed something like WiiSpeak badly. If I the addons have any impact on me, it's that of making me shake my head.
The Wii was advertised as a console with motion sensing controls. Maybe my controllers are broken, but I wouldn't exactly say they read my motions. We all saw the pics of people playing Twilight Princess, swinging the sword. It's redundant. All you need to do is give the controller a slight tilt, that's all it takes to attack. Unless you get your kicks from moving in front of your TV like a five year old who watched The Lord of the Rings too much, there is no reason to it.
But, luckily, they are going to fix that. With the WiiMotionPlus. Circa two years after we were told the games would copy our moves (lightsaber battle ad, anyone?), we get the hardware to make it happen - and there is exactly one title announced to be released along with it that uses it. Another addon. Am I upset? Not really. After the first two rounds of boxing in WiiSports I knew the motion based controls weren't exactly what I was told.
Finally, yes, WiiSpeak might be of use to some people, maybe even the majority of those who buy it. My concern is just the fact that you most likely will be forced to buy one of these things, since they might be bundled with the game - which in the end makes the actual game more expensive than it would need to be.

You know, if you act like you're swinging a sword, it does the same thing.   Did you want quarter and half swings? I'll swing, PSYCHE! *pulls it back* I tricked you there.  Maybe they'll be in the fetal position before I chop them in half.

Since I can't find the trailer, how about a source that is directly made by Nintendo?

Quote from my PAL (German) WiiSports manual:

"Was ist Wii Sports?

In Wii (tm) SPORTS erleben Sie die Welt des Sports hautnah, indem Sie realistische Bewegungen mit der Wii-Fernbedienung durchführen."

Let me translate that red part for you (don't trust me, use BabelFish):
"by doing realistic motions with the Wii-remote"

Here something from the US manual:
"With Wii Sports, you are a pro athlete, experience realistic sports sensations with controls
that are close to the actual sports motions."

[I can make a scan of my German manual if you want, an online copy of the US one can be found at http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/gameslist/manuals/Wii_Wii_Sports.pdf]

So, my copy of the manual says I have to use realistic motions, the US translation is smart enough to call it "close to the actual sports motions".
Now, here is the part everybody can try themselves:

- Turn on your Wii, insert WiiSports
- Start a game of baseball
- Once you are in control of your character, tilt the WiiMote
- Your character will now not jerk the bat around, but do a full swing
(if it doesn't work, tilt a little harder)

Now, I'm not into baseball, but even from my very little understanding, actual players never just shake one end of their bat around to play the game.

Also, if anyone wants to discuss this further, PM me. This thread is about WiiSpeak and this has nothing to do with it.

I still don't see where they said :Wii-mote can do 1:1.
The guy only said you perfom natural movements and Wii-motes will react to that, i seriously don't see " Wii copies every movement you make".
"by doing realistic motions with the Wii-remote" =/= Wii-mote hardware can track 1:1.

"With Wii Sports, you are a pro athlete, experience realistic sports sensations with controls
that are close to the actual sports motions."
Yes because you can either Pretend or just flick the controlls.
It's only said because it wants people to get more immersed in the game.

As for the basebal game, the Bat is actually more accurate( with little delay) then most stuff out there.
It responds to the velocity of your swing and not just a simple flick.

It just your interpretation, even ubisoft claimed from the beginning it had a delay when they tried some 1:1.
If you just go by that marketing nonsense then you are a bit ignorant.

The wii wasnt 1:1 when first launched and people complained now we get motion plus that has the tech to make 1:1 finally possible and people complain.
People complained about no voice chat when wii first launched now we get wii speak and people complain....is there no pleasing gamers?

Especially how this will only be $30...thats really not alot of money considering sony and ms headsets cost more.

But thats the ****ed up thing with the whole gaming community of today.
No matter what Nintendo does they are bastards for some reason.

If there is a core game coming " its outdated "
When they make shovelware they complain there is no "core" games.

And if it's something that annoys me its not people bashing Nintendo its rather their illogical narrowminded mindset towards something.
They will never be happy.
The thing that really really annoys me when they go " Nintendo is dead to me" while in fact you never gave a ****.
