I know Gears 2 wont come to PS3 but do you guys think the third one will. Also someone told me Microsoft owns the name so I was wondering is this true ?

No. Gears is indeed an IP owned by MS. Plus, Epic is a deal with MS to produce 3 Microsoft exclusives which are said to be the Gears trilogy.

Gears IP is owned by Epic, it was either 2 or 3 exclusives...but im sure MS will work out a deal for their second biggest game.

I think the Gears franchise will hit it's peak at 2 anyways. Plus having played the PC version I might be dissapointed by Gears 2 graphics.

Gears is in no way owned by MS, it is an IP of Epic, who, by the way, has only signed on for 2 games w/ MS. They have yet to sign on for a third game w/ MS. Please consider the forums the Uber Gamer Zone of the site. Words like "XBots", "Sonydroids", etc. won't be tolerated. By the time they are actually ready to release another sequel the install base for PS3 will be so big that it would be too expensive for MS to buy the rights. Sure, it's one of their flagship games, but the epenses would far outweigh the profits. Not to mention the 360 is becoming obsolete or outsold in a most territories in Europe and Asia, so if Epic wants to stay in touch w/ those consumers, they would be better off releasing their hottest propert on PS3 as well.

I'm pretty sure they said somewhere that Gears is a MS ip but even then, it will never arrive on PS3.

You guys act like this is impossible, but lest we forget the PS3 had UT3 first which was an Epic game. But then again, it makes sense, the PS3 supports user mods, we don't have to ask Sony for permission. Unlike XBL, where all content must be approved by MS.

Gears of War is a great game, if a little short, and is one of Microsofts main titles. And I do not see this ever comming to the PS3.

Thouse without a 360 though should still be able to enjoy the game on the PC.

i remember hearing M$ get 2 gears exclusive if epic decide make another third it won't be a exclusive thats what i been hearing

they could always write up a new exclusivity contract before their current one runs out. i doubt ms would let this one go multiplatform. they would be very stupid if they did.

Agreed. This is becoming more of a flame combat zone. There was a simple question: "Will Gears 3 be on both 360 and PS3?"

I think nothing is for certain except that it definitly won't be on Wii.

I think what they said, was MSoft owned the Gears of War IP but not the universe. In other words, there can't be a gears of war 3 on the PS3 but there can be some spin off title with same gameplay but different characters
