Nothing could kill Halo 3 at this time, here is why.

1. Its an all ready super successful franchise with a huge fan base.

2. 10 million + Xbox 360's and PC base ensure masive sales.

3. Preorders already make this the huge hit it will be.

Now as to Haze and Killzone 2. What is the criteria to determine if they are Halo killers or not? I am guessing it would be overall sales. Tought battle for Killzone 2 as it will only be available on the PS3 so its total install base would have to grow massively to ever sell as many copies as Halo 3 will on the Xbox 360 and PC. Haze could possibly have a better chance since it will be on both the PS3 and Xbox 360 so it would have a larger potential sales base then Killzone 2.

I will say this though. If Killzone 2 can come close to what was shown at E3 2005 and the gameplay solid I could see a Killzone 3 with a much larger PS3 install base becoming Sony's version of Halo. I have seen many say the PS2 Killzone was not that great of game. True enough, but just because a game was not that great does not mean the next version can't be outstanding. Just as a successful game does not mean the next version of it will be a equal or greater quality.

Regardless of how well each game is I don't think it will have any kind of a major impact on Halo 3 sales.

killzone has yet to show whether it will be able too... and haze will be on xbox 360 so it can't kill halo... because everyone who buys haze on 360 will buy halo 3

Nah I don't anything can top Halo at the moment it has so much hype that almost anyone who sees a Xbox or X360 will probally buy it. So far nearly 40% X360 owners already have it pre-ordered(4.1 or 4.7 Million).

No, but it will be interesting to see how the flood of games releasing in september affect sales and reviews (comparison to UT3???) . But yeah 4 milln+ preorders and counting = sucess in sales already.

I seriously doubt it. Bungie could release Halo ballet and the fans would go crazy for it. Still, Master Chief doing ballet would be pretty entertaining though...

Pretty stupid question because Halo was the single biggest console franchise of the last generation. It doesn't just die.

I've moved this because you are asking if you think one of two games will beat a 360 game. Since Halo 3's a 360 only game, I throught it was for the best to put it in the 360 forum.

I really don't think any thing is ever going to be a Halo killer, people keep saying this or that will be a Halo killer but it can't really be killed. How would a game on another platform kill a game. Halo will be what it is no matter what, other games can aspire to get that many sales either by doing the same thing or by doing something different but Halo won't be killed either way.

Considering Sony said that the original KillZone was going to be a Halo Killer, I'm not expecting much for the second installment.

But In my own terms, I will like Haze a lot better, but Halo 3 will win by popularity and sales.

Halo is a huge franchise and is MS biggest with tons of followers... I dont think Haze or Killzone has as many followers as Halo does.

It's because of successful the franchise has been due in part to Bungie's amazing efforts at really pushing out great games.

I would probably give MGS4 a better chance against Halo 3 and it's following than Haze or Killzone. Both to me dont seem that great or revolutionary, unlike Halo has been for console shooters.

Halo will flood your mind! It will be on the news, it will be on the internet news. It will be in financials for MSFT, everywhere! The people that don't have it will want it. 360 sales will be up!

I want H3, and have it pre-ordered but I am not looking foward to the media machine!
Also want haze but no pre-Order yet... Wont be as publisized as H3 either.

Nothing can kill Halo period its now cemented as one of those series that can never be beaten no matter how good the other game looks or plays.

No. Halo is Halo the only thing that can kill it is Bungie and a bad Halo. Even then it would survive this round but maybe not any sequels, but since they are not making any more sequels that shouldn't be a problem. Oh I think the movie can also kill the franchise by stinking.

Killzone and Haze may be good and may sell a lot and maybe people will say it is better then Halo but not a lot of people are going to not buy Halo to buy one of those. People that wont buy Halo on launch will do so based on other reasons (i.e. they are not big halo fans, they will wait for price drop, they already bought a bunch of games and are waiting on GTA or BIA, or Mercenaries or any number of other games.)

Agreed, except i don't think a movie can kill a game franchise. Gamers don't base their gaming purchase off what a movie was like so i really don't see how a bad halo movie would hurt it all that much, for the most part people expect game based movies to be bad.

I was just thinking that a bad movie could turn off some of the casual fans. I wonder how many people didnt play Chronicals of Riddick video game because they didnt like Chronicals of Riddick the movie (which I actually did sort of like). Your right though it probably wont affect most people when it somes to Halo just based on how much they liked the previous games. Also the movie will come long after Halo3 anyway so if it does have any affect it wont be on this game.

nothing will be a halo killer in my opinion. it has like between 4-5 million copies reserved last i read. Haze is coming to both the PS3 and 360. Killzone can be a Halo killer I guess...but you will not find that out until total sales of a year or so after release. Haze or Killzone have a lot of software to sell to catch up already.
