OK, so I bought the wireless adapter for my 360 and I just can't get the damn thing to work.  From what I understand all I need to do is plug it into the USB port and then change the setting under the system blade.  The problem I'm having is that the adapter displays a red light only (getting power but no signal).  I even tried it with my router in the same room, but had no luck.  Am I missing something or is it simply a defective adapter?

Sell your 360 for a PS3.  That's the best thing you can do.

LOL

It sounds like it's defected.

I'm assuming you've got other wireless devices working fine on this network, right?

My computer, my wife's computer, my daughter's laptop and my PS3 all work perfectly fine.  Oh, JVIDICAN, I have to admit, the red light thing was unintentionally funny on my part.  It's actually the light on the adapter, not on the 360.  As for JackBauerIsHIGH, I already own one of each and it probably is just plain broken.  That's the kind of luck I've been having lately.

That sucks. If all that other stuff works fine it's probably an issue with the adapter. From what I hear there isn't much trouble shooting that can be done with those. Try restarting and unplugging it, then plugging it back in a few times. Stuff like that. Sounds like you'll need to exchange it in the end, though.

So, how does that work?

@ Polluted,

I tried the two whole things that the Microsoft help site said to do, so I have a trip to the store in the future.  Thanks for the advice.

Yeah, I wasn't even thinking about that when I wrote it.  Good catch, I had to laugh at that one myself.

LOL I was just joking about the "buy a PS3" thing.  It's not N4G if we don't get at least one of those responses to a serious question.

Yeah, that is no good though.  They better not hassle you when you trade it in!

I have to agree that any topic, no matter how innocent, will bring out the fanboys.  And you're right, it just wouldn't be an N4G thread without the fanboy comments.

Nope, the store was sold out.  Hopefully they'll get more in soon.

That is a PS3 fanboy for you first sign of trouble and he runs away.  Is your router compatible with the Xbox 360 itself and what settings are you using on your router?  Does the Xbox 360 recognize the wireless adapter?

Don't even joke about that... Plugging a 360 into a laptop so the 360 can have internet is the dumbest "secret" use of the 360 I've seen yet. No wonder Microsoft doesn't want us to know - they're embarrassed enough as it is.
