Rockstar, being the "contraversial" people they are, decided to give Microsoft their "exclusive downloadable content" but according to a loophole in the contract Sony can get the same content, except, its on a disc that is included in the case, FOR FREE!!!

Not that I'm hoping that this would happen, I just hate how big companies pay to screw another company instead of just dealing with the competition *cough cough*EA*cough cough*

it would be funny...

but that loophole I really have to doubt. Microsoft most likely had the best of the best lawyers negotiate this DLC deal.

The problem with this logic is that the DLC is slated for Fall 08. They're probably still in the works.

Secondly, for me personally, when Fall 08 rolls around, I'll be hooked on LBP and Resistance 2.

Thirdly: Don't worry about DLC, the first two episodes are exclusive, but if they sell, every episode after that and any other DLC will come to all platforms.

Fourth: If it happened, it WOULD be pretty funny, but this DLC is probably gonna be between 15 and 20 dollars, there's too much money to be made. If there's a loophole they'll be charging PS3 owners 40 bucks for it on a disc because they had to pay for the cases, the disks and the shipping.

Edit: Fifthly: Rockstar wouldn't kill their friendship with the company that currently has the most market share by screwing them over.

Sixthly (it's getting effing lame now so I'll stop): 50 million dollars is ALOT for episodes. There's a little more to this deal than meets the eye, I'm sure. I also heard something about, if they don't recoup the 50 million in DLC, MS has to pay them the difference or they can release the DLC on PS3 as an option.

Yeah if that happened it'd be funny as hell and i'm sure MS would be pissed beyond all measure.

lol wishful thinking. Not gonna happen. Best sony can hope for if they really want the DLC is that it is timed. At the end of the day though i am sure ps3 will also get some additional content. Rumor plans to make some 3rd party developer make only psp and ps3 games and they announce it at gamers day. I think there is a better shot at sony getting rockstar to make that leap than microsoft paying for content and sony getting it free on the disc. Regardless though we will know who the mystery developers are by gamers day if they even exist at all

If by flop you mean only 10% will buy then yes. However msoft didn't invest in the DLC to get their money back. They invested in it to have something over sony so they really don't care much for the DLC. That is why i am almost 100% certain the DLC will be lame. If it wasn't, MSoft would have told us by now. I could be horribly wrong though

Sony buys up everybody. Guerilla games, naughty dog, zipper. Once you make a sony exclusive its hard not to get bought. Big big studios and evolution got purchased quick. The only studio sony hasn't been able to acquire even though i am sure they are dying to is insomniac.

there aint no madden competiton...EA bought the NFL, AFL, and NCAA football licenses til about 2012, so they wont have any there anyway, but the basketball games made by 2K, I LOVE THEM SOOO MUCH, it would suck if EA got their greedy little hands on them

Yeah forgot about that. 2K series basketball is much better than live and much more realistic. The best franchise they had was MVP and go figure T2 bought that out. Revenge?

the DLC is going to pay for itself so quickly, the DLC is there to spike Live subscription, if a million new people sign up for Live, that right there is the 50 million, then you have them playing online games, and other DLC, and then money continues to wrack up, and they buy more games cause their online, and then MS gets more money from advertisement because of the larger popualtion.

GTA is just the big name brand needed to boost numbers
