I have no idea what it is, probably holiday sales or something like that, but today I wanted to pick up a second XBOX 360 Premium, because I want to build up my gaming room with two sets with two HDTV's for when somebody is coming over and play without stupid splitscreens.

So I decided to walk into stores during my lunch break in a (for The Netherlands a reasonable large city, 120.000 people) large city, with about 7 stores where they normally sell 360's.

ALL stores were soldout on the Premiums. They had some arcades, and fewer Elites, but no Premium in sight. Asking them they say everything that comes in goes out. Even the MediaMarkt only had new special big packages with the Premium, 2 controllers a game and some other stuff for a higher price.

I was flabbergasted. Then I went back to home just an hour ago and checked the 3 shops I know have 360's on sale (smaller town, total about 50k inhabitants). First two: nothing. Third... Say they might have in the back/storage. Went to look. ONE just ONE left. Luckely for me today.

I haven't seen it up till now like this. Some stores sometimes sold out, but all together...

Which also makes me wonder: Sony sold 1.56 mln. PS3's up till now in 2008. MS sold 1.3 mln. 360's. The gap is still what, 8 mln. units or so. If the At this rate, the PS3 needs 16 years to even get on par with the 360. And in 8 years if the 360 stops selling today. With the sales gone up probably as the shops sell out, it seems the advantage in sales will be there still in years from now

I guess the sales are going well at M$

2 bad you can`t finish your gameroom... still you need 2 more TV screen right? 1080p I guess :P 40" maybe?
Good luck finding a Premium, I guess Groningen got some left! I know that for sure!

You cannot find Premium models anymore because the old 20GB premiums are being replaced with 60GB model versions. Ergo, there has probably been a recall on all 20GB models so that replacement 60GBs can get out there.

This is exactly what happened when Sony discontinued the 60GB version of the PS3 in favor for the cheaper 40GB version.

Don't try and spin this into a 360 outselling the PS3 story when it's just a matter of the 360 replacing itself, not selling out. Personally I have no idea why you would mindlessly rush out and get an old 20gb verison when a 60gb version is coming out cheaper.

Egg on you I guess.

pick the Wii

But even if it WOULD be 5.5 mln. with the current difference in sales it would take 11 years...

50.7% pick Wii (424,703 votes) consoles sold

Well I just saw a LG 32 inch 1080p LCD with 50.000:1 contrast for 777 Euro at the MediaMarkt :P

lol where do you get your numbers from. As from june 2008, sony stands at 14.5millio, Msoft is at 20 and wii is at like 30

Too bad for you the Elite was also low on storage

AND

There are new packages as I said from the Premium with the 2 controllers, game etc. Which are NEW here and also almost sold out. Thus: this ain't propaganda, but reality.

Your list is outdated, the Wii is currently at 29.63 million units sold and the PS3 is at 14.5 million.

Ah right. Misinformation. This is actual situation in shops in the cities I work and live, as today. So how can YOU know?

I welcome you to visit them.

Second thing: Microsoft isn't seeking for no 20GB Premiums in shops and waiting for 60GB Premiums I guess.
Do you think they shut the whole production plant down when they switch just the HDD's? Don't think so.

All those shops sold a 'no' to me and to others today. I think Microsoft in a normal situation would prevent that to happen. Each no is a possible loss to the PS3. So I really do think the sales are up. It might be because of summer, or some games lately like GTAIV, Grid, UT3, NG2, Soul Calibur IV. I mean those came in the last 3 months which is a pretty strong line up just for the start of summer!

Well actually no, thats not my point.

My point is I was searching my ass off just to find a 360 Premium.

And that I am building a gaming room with 2 x 360 and 2 x a HDTV with some nice soundgamingmats with 5.25 inch subwoofers in them to lay on while gaming.

But I guess the Sony fans are too much focussed on them believing it couldn't be true, its charming how much of them comes in a 360 thread like this.
