I decided to let my Live Subscription lapse and not renew it for another year.  The credit card on file was expired so I didn't think I had anything else to do than let it pass.  However I just received a email from Microsoft suppport stating they successfully renewed my subscription for a year.

Does anyone know if this is something that they could do?  That would involve calling my credit card company to find out what my new number is, right?

Anyone else have this same issue?

They did it to me before, billed my name. I don't know how, I was underage at the time. I never bothered to pay and never heard about it since then.  Wait no, yours is different than mine. They actually managed to charge you through another card? That's BS. They tried billing me and I ingored it.

Well, I don't know if they actually charged my expired card or not.  I was checking my email and they sent an email stating that they successfully charged my expired card to renew my 1yr subscription.  I'm at work right now so there's no way to see if any of my information has been changed or not.

About 7 more hours before I can check that out, but I plan on giving Microsoft a call here on my lunch break.

If this is true, I am going to be throughly pissed.

Give them a call before they decide to ban your gamertag from Live completely. It happens... their billing system is no good.

Okay so I spoke to those guys.  They tried to get me to renew my subscription about three times, but that's here nor there.

Basically, if you have an expired card on the profile they will attempt to run it for about two months.  After that they will suspend your account until you pay them for your next level of subscription.
