ok ever since the announcement that treyarch would be doin cod5 the 1st thought in my mind was, "oh god another crappy game" but now i have a little more hope for the game because of something i read recently (link on the bottom for those interested). i never knew that treyarch only had 8 months to develop cod3, if i look at it in that way, they actually did a pretty decent job, better than some games with at least 2 years in development time, but i still dont/wont ever like the little button pressing minigames. as long as they keep the minigames out, expand on what IW did with cod4, and since they've been developing since cod3's release (which would give them about 2 years) im pretty sure they could release a solid game. if not then im never touching a treyarch game ever again, not even to rent

link to article i read recently : http://www.strategyinformer.com/news/1466/call-of-duty-3-was-no-filler-piece-say--treyarch-just-8-months-work

Well I know that I am brainwashed to purchase only Call of Duties that are made by Infinity Ward. I think COD4's online has something more to it then addictiveness. (subliminal messages?)

Maybe it's so damn repetitive that it's killed many a braincell?

I think it'll be a great game. I don't think it will surpass COD4, especially in MP, but it'll still be good. They're using the COD4 engine from what I understand so as far as the nuts and bolts go, it can't be terrible. I thought COD3 was a good game, I don't know why people like to crap on it. It wasn't as good as COD2 or COD4, but there are alot worse out there, and admit it, it was fun to play. So if were getting another enjoyable title from Treyarch then so be it.

cod3 was decent, was my 1st ever xbox live title and i kinda enjoyed it. i just felt that it didnt live up to the COD name. cod1 was awesome, cod2 was awesome but cod3 felt like an expansion pack but i know the reason why now tho.

What Wooly said was very British, but technically there wasn't anything wrong with it.

As for Treyarch, I hate their COD game as much as anyone. I didn't even have the pleasure of playing the xbox version. Oh no. I had to go and get the PS3 version. That was the buggiest POS I've ever played in my entire life and I suspect it looked only marginally better than the xbox version in some parts and actully worse than the xbox in places. That said, didn't they make a couple of decent Spiderman games?

    Well they do have katanas.
Though I will admit that the game looks very Vietnam-ish.

    BTW nice Ergo Proxy avatar.

Spiderman 2 was fun. And Ultimate Spiderman was better, but I don't think that was Treyarch. If you think about it, making a Spiderman game would be kind of hard. Spiderman 2 really nailed the swinging mechanics for the first time. Everything since then has just been a matter of refining that system. I get the impression that Treyarch is a decent studio, but they always get stuck with really tight deadlines. Their games always have potential, but they always have to get them out the door in time for some movie release or some such BS even if the game isn't done. See COD3 and Spiderman 3. Maybe they just suck, though. Guess we'll see with World at war.

BTW, you forgot Separation Anxiety. AKA: Maximum Carnage 2.

I'm getting quite bored with FPS in general, but I think Treyarch might just pull this one off, it looks great so far. Whether I'll buy it or not depends on whether my love for first-perosn shooters is rekindled or not, it just seems to me like if you've played one, you might as well have played them all...

someone told me that the new cod isnt really cod5, its more like how gta had vice city and san andrea. if this is true then it would make sense and why theres no number in the title. it would be like a vice city for cod1 (no number) and would explain the return to ww2

u know how theres a gta3, gta vice city, gta san andreas? vice city and san andreas werent exactly the newest "numbered" game in the series. they werent gta 4(vice city) and gta 5(san andreas)...they were more like...hmm....i dunno, like expansion packs or something. someone said that the newest cod....cod: world at war, is like a vice city or a san andreas meaning its a new COD but not the newest "numbered" game in the series.

I never actually noticed the missing number until now be honest. I remember previous "expansion packs" I'll call them from the COD franchise. The expasion pack Call of Duty : United Offensive, but that was from the first, so obviously they wouldn't include a "1". but then we got Call of Duty: Finest Hour, again, no number because there no need to signify "1". Then Call of Duty 2 came, the "expansion pack" that followed was Call of Duty 2: Big red one ,number included because it came after COD2. Then we get Call of Duty 3, no "expansion pack" to follow so we jumped right inot Call of Duty 4. So keeping with the pattern, this should technically be Call of Duty 4: World at War. Which obvioulsy makes no sense, so I would have to assume that Call of Duty: World at War will have to actually be "5", a number title.....though the number doesn't exist. Odd indeed.
