Re:ksmooches Presents: NFL Thread 2.0 - Monday, October 26, 2009 1:50 PM
i don't know.. i want to see a couple of match ups.. i still think the Saints (right now) are the best team in the NFL.. they have had a harder schedule than the Colts, and have looked more impressive.. Outside of the first half against Miami, the Saints have looked almost unstoppable.  They're defense (outside of the first half yesterday) have played really well, and have been knocking teams around, and the offense, well, they can drop 40 points on almost anyone any Sunday.  Again, as of right now, i'd have to put the Saints as the top team in the league.

By playing two teams that have yet to win a game (Rams and the Bucs).

I understand that you dislike the Patriots, but I am sure that you can come up with more credible reasons than not pulling starters in the second half.  Do the Colts pull Peyton Manning and take a knee every play every time they get a thirty point lead?

Uh, the Colts did pull Manning this weekend when they were up 35-7 late in the 3rd quarter.

Also, the reason the Pats are playing at the Colts this year is due to the way the scheduling works.  It's not anything that was decided right before the season; anything that has to do with the schedule is known at least four years before the game actually happens (except for two games each year for every team).

Anyway, Colts and Saints are the only two teams that look unstoppable right now.  Everyone is a notch or more below.  That next group carries the Broncos, Patriots, Steelers and Vikings.

I meant second quarter, not second half.  Sonarus was complaining that the Patriots should have stopped trying to score when they got up to a big lead, but since it was only the second quarter I don't really see a problem with it.  If they were still doing that late in the third or at an point in the fourth it would be different.

Plus, I still don't understand whats wrong with running up the score.  The only reason that I like seeing the starters pulled is that I don't want them to get injured on a meaningless play.  Running up the score is something that pop warner teams get accused of, and its because little kids get their feelings hurt easily.  If a professional football team allows fifty points in the first half, they should come up with a gameplan instead of throwing the white towel and hoping the other team will pull its starters.

I'm tired.

I don't think that the score was ran up on those teams.  I mean, this is professional sports we're talking about here.  If you can't stay on the field and compete then you deserve to get whooped.  Both of those teams are that bad and I can easily see the Colts, Saints or even the Vikings smash them like that.

I'm just saying that 80 points in a row shouldn't be considered a feat because...well, it was against two winless and hapless teams.  Let's see how they do against the Saints and the Colts this year.

Its the NFL, when you get a big lead you run the ball, Pats just kept passing. I can understand why they did it, Pats offense wasn't clicking and Brady had been down past few games so it was a way to build confidence against weak teams.

Can't wait to see them play a real team though. Patriots imo are overrated, don't get me wrong they have the potential to be a very good team but they have only played up to their potential against winless teams. Will be nice to see them play Miami who is still a very good team despite their losses and then the colts.

The colts and saints are dead even. On one hand you can say the colts haven't played quality teams but Titans are STILL a quality team unfortunately they seem to get worse every game. They nearly beat Steelers, had houston beat buut defense fukd up, They stuck around against the colts for a while and fumbles killed them in New England.

Colts have quality wins against Jaguars (good team), Miami and against Arizona. But without any doubt saints have faced tougher opponents like the eagles (who also lost to the raiders), Giants (who lost to Arizona who colts easily defeated)

So as far as i'm concerned its sort of a tie and can only be determined till either colts or saints lose. Reggie Wayne appears to be hurt though hopefully he doesn't miss time he is by far the best receiver for the colts

Yea went out of last game with groin injury. But still played and had 12 catches for 140+yrds including the game winning TD.

I don't know if its the 49ers playing tough or colts just not playing as well as they usually do. I think its the luxury of playing some crap teams but the 49ers have shown they are a very good team. Colts get Houston next week and then the biggest game of the yr colts vs patriots. Can't wait for that matchup i hope neither team loses next week just so the hype can continue building up.

So the undefeated teams are down to new orleand and indianapolis. I am gonna predict right now the panthers are going to beat the saints. Panthers are probably my favorite team in the NFC just because i love their two running backs.

Well nothing new there. It's been since 2001 since the Saints beat the Panthers in New Orleans

Awesome how the tables turned on the Cardinals. You can bet their fans did NOT see that coming.

...neither did Panthers fans

Yea Panthers defense has been great all yr unfortunately Jake Delhomme has been terrible all yr. Fortunately for Carolina they executed their game plan. They rode their two 1st round running backs to victory. Jake Delhomme sucks. Panthers need to run 70% of the time and pass like 10% and use the rest of the 20% on wildcat. Delhomme not passing is the best thing for the panthers.

Deangello Williams and Stewart are the stars of that offense the sun set on Delhomme a long time ago but steve smith has been carrying him. Smith aint carrying him now and look how terrible he looks. If panthers can run the ball and lean on their defense they should be good

I had a feeling the Colts/Texans game would be close... Too bad I missed it. I really wanted to watch that game but I forgot because stupid Dragon Age had me hypnotized.
