This goes to Wolverine,  I didn't know you didnt play the last Ratchets,,, The PS3 version probably would make you happier to play it if you played the others.  Oh well, your loss.

Great show. Give GTA IV more time, it just keeps getting better and better. The final mission did make me want to smash my controller but Vice City and San Andreas had annoying final missions too. Keep up the good work guys. The sound levels have been spot on lately too ZT, Great work. Later guys.

Edit - Do we answer the grading scale question here?

Are you guys using the handbrake or brake/reverse in GTA4? Cause if you're using the handbrake thats the problem, use the brake/reverse. I'm on the PS3 version so its L2 for me, so I'm guessing its the left trigger?

Another week another solid show from the "Crew"

I will say that the problems you are having with GTA 4 (wolverine & zero) seem to have a bit of you guys just might stink at the game. I mean you have valid points about how the shooting and driving could be better but when you say you get caught up on some level for what it seems like 3 or 4 trys at a time then I think its more about you as a gamer not "getting the job done" then it is that the game has a broken system.

I myself have been on the losing end of some missions but I find it 95% of the time its because of myself not the game.

I am not attacking you, but I hate that excuse.  I could say that about any game and make it sound logical.  I play more games than most people and while I am not the best at any of them, I believe my 20+ years of gaming is not the reason I have a problem with cars that glide like they are on ice.

Oh and by the way the new MGO is light years ahead of what MGS3 did with its online. But the menu system and the way you connect with friends and stuff.....Boggles the mind.

Agreed....it's all really kind of ass backwards, the problems are a shame too cause the game is actually pretty good...not exactly my cup of tea but the gameplay is definitely solid (no pun intended....unless you like puns, in which case..you know...run with it). 
 
It'd be nice to see them iron some of that out pre-release, but I'm not holding out hope that they will.

Well I dont have time to deal with the Beta download so I will give it a whirl when the real game launches.  I am an MGS freak, so I dont want my first experience with this new one (even if it is just the online beta) to be a bad one.

Quick question for everyone what to this time was your best moment of GTA 4 online?
 
Mine has to be last night when I was in a Deathmatch in Manhattan and I was on top of one of the buildings sniping people from the roof. No body had any clue and just listening to people cry and moan about "where is this guy?" and "This is Bull****" or my favorite "Is there a glitch or something I don't see him!!!"

I use to slide everywhere, but now like naturally I am able to pull of when i should e brake into a reverse break so i go right where i want to.

I feel the same way. At the beginning I was sliding into poles, people, gliding around on ice. But towards the middle, I started darting through cars, doing J-turns, 180's, drifting into turns.

Anyways, as always, good job. A little bit of feedback: I do find the "fondling" the console session goes on for abit too long. Considering how much I love the last 2/3rd's of every podcast because you talk about the news, and the user questions which is actually really entertaining and interesting.

Edit: I forgot to mention, in GTA4, the jeeps are broken. You can't turn in the SUV or Patriot without flipping it and having it roll over a hundred times. I would agree with the SUV's being broken.

hey zt why don't u try a different camera angle , maybe the hood camera view would work for you. i find it easier in that view

great show guys as always, and I totally agree with zero on the driving, gta is meant to be pure fun, but the only difference is that i got used to it and stopped moaning about it. you know that complaining won't change a thing right, so get over it. you have played viking for god's sake

I love to hear different opinions, and i can't stop listening to the show, I love to hear Gambus make the silly sounds, and the intros are cool....

Exactly, i have played viking and enjoyed, the game had flaws but we didn't hear you guys complain about them as much, besides driving in gta4 isn't a flaw, it is a new approach... and as i said, i didn't like it at first....

Finally, I am not gta4 fan, and if am to review it, i will give a 8.5 to 9.5(+online), but i liked this gta the most because it was more about the story, i am the story type of guy.

OK, first off. Zero... You gotta aim for the triple 20's in darts, not the bullseye. That is me nit picking, so ignore me though....
 
I can't believe you slated the targeting system but then revealed you hadn't used the cover system....? man, that makes it all worthwhile. the way he slides into cover if you run towards it is pretty cool too.
 
Gambus...? Resetting the system??? talk about an energy crisis... It takes loads to do that I hope you know. HATE MAIL from GREENPEACE.
 
Can't believe matey boy shot Roman... I blew him up in my car by accident but he can forgive me for that.
 
I am getting into the driving. It is satisfying getting away from the filth.
 
 

Actually I did criticize Viking, just recently in fact.  I was pissed at how I am doing one missions for an hour and then I die and have to start all over.  I don't get as much time to play games as some people so I hate wasting time re-trying the same crap over and over.  The problem with GTA IV crticism is that people get upset when someone doesn't worship the game.  I find it very VERY good and lots of fun, but I feel some of the fundamentals are flawed.  And that is my opinion

but why don't stop playing the game? that's because you love it, you said it... this happened with me when i got prince of persia: warrior within, i got like 5 defect dvd's, i reach the middle of the game and there are some places where a cutscene is supposed to kick in but nothing happens, finally i knew that the ntsc version of the game isn't facing the same problems, so i bought it, and modded my ps2 to play the game . So what i'm saying, we can sometimes overlook something or a bunch if we love the package...
And yeah i agree about people getting upset when someone doesn't worship the game, i hate that i sounded like it, but actually i wanted to say that you guys must spend less time talking about just one point, but after hearing the episode again, i think you were being pushed a little bit...
Anyway, i am a supporter of: if it ain't broke, don't fix it... i hate what's happening with gta(the driving), mortal kombat(disgusting), prince of persia(i wanted to see the prince, but that won't make 'em much money)....

If I fail a mission I feel like I am getting my money's worth... Anyway, the review was gonna get "between 9 and 9.5" so it must be quite good.
 
Personally, I wouldn't change a thing but I can see why people would want to.

That is kind of my point, I am not going to stop playing the game, I am having a lot of fun.  I just feel that some aspects are not perfect and they frustrate me, but sometimes it feels like I can say no wrong about the game without someone taking personal offense.  Oh well

Great podcast. It was epic about GTA IV. Zt i understand your opinion about the driving part of GTA but it takes some time to get used to the controller from a new perspective.

Hey thanks Wombat for answering my question not only on XBL but also the podcast. To tell the truth, I still haven't bought either game. I think I may save my points for something else. Also, I'm with Killer Wolverine on GTA4 It's an 8. It's not the be all end all of games, but at the same time it's a very good game. Great show by the way. Funny as hell as always. I've been listening for a long time just haven't really got active in the fourms.

Now I know that I'm not alone when I start whining how bad and awful and lame and not realistic and stupid cars react.

I agree with ZT and KW the driving sucks, I've gotten used to it and can play it but it still sucks and so doeas the aiming.  I like when I'm stabbing someone and they fall down and all of a sudden I'm just stabbing the street.

This game is not a 10 it's a very solid 9, I heard the best in it's field line and I disagree a 10 implies perfection and this game is far from it.  I love the content and the story is excellent but the controls all around fubar.

I'm gonna have to start the ZT and ZW defense force soon...
