Favorite Soul Calibur IV Critical Finisher. - Sunday, July 27, 2008 2:55 AM

Some of them are quite badass, others are just okay... And yeah, a couple are rather lame. At the end of the day though, I don't think these critical finishers will be used very often or even be a relevant part of SCIV's core gameplay at all. Most likely, the critical finish will end up being simply a fancy bonus move for skilled player's to do to newbs; adding even more pwnage possibilities...  and/or used to punish those turtling players. My favorites are Algol's, Nightmare's and especially Darth Vader's...

Ok, I didn't want this game until I saw Seung Mina's, Maxi's, and the Star Wars folk's finishers. If I can get it for around 40 I'll be picking it up.

I'm surprised by the fact that I like all of them.  But for some reason, I like Sophitia's the best.

I got the same impression. The flashy anime style sparks and flashes might tickle the Japanese pink, but it does absolutely nothing for me. Give me visible clothing/body damage, blood, and beheadings. Realism ftw.

Fatalities are done after you beat the opponent to the pulp. This is different.

The reason I don't enjoy a lot of these is because of the nonexistent blood/disfigurement due to the teen rating. The "sexual themes" and nudity better pay off.

Edit: the voice acting is also terrifying. It's incredibly ****. Is there an option to hear the original Japanese voice actors?

Yes, I'm sure there will be an option to switch it off. The previous games had it, so I'm assuming this one will be no different. I also noticed that there character voices were radically different from the past two games. I believe Namco hired a new cast of voice actors.

The critical finisher isn't as easy to pull off as some would like you to think. There's only a small window opening to pull off the move.

Good stuff. Although I think a few lines were delivered well from what I saw. If it begins to irritate me, I'll turn off the dub.
