Waiting for Halo 3 PC?

I know the Halo games usually don't stack up real well against the top of the line PC shooters, but is anyone actually anticipating  Halo 3 PC?  I have both Halo and Halo 2 for PC, and while they are not the best games ever I still really enjoy them. Live Anywhere is also pretty nice as long as you stay with the Silver Account, because I'm still not paying for what should be free.

I agree on that...  which means I'll probably pass on it.  I didn't even know it was coming to PC.

It hasen't been announced, but it's pretty much a forgone conclusion, since the first two came out on PC as well as other "Exclusive" games.

Well it likely will (on Vista and Games for Windows Live), but not for at least 2 years.

It's known for being a console shooter so I wouldn't expect it to stack up against PC shooters, but mouse>analog so I'd definitely get it if I had a better PC at that point.

The controls affect the game alot. Playing Heroic difficulty on an Xbox was hard for me, but playing it on PC is a breeze. A mouse gives you so much more accuracy, it makes a ton of difference.

I agree, controls are so important in an FPS that I was much better at Halo on PC than Halo on the Xbox.  It was a far better experience for me.  Metroid Prime 3's controls so far are the only console controls that rival the PC FPS experience in my opinion.

A lot of console shooters have decently adapted to analog, but I don't think anything can be more accurate than a well-tuned mouse.

I agree that MP3's control on the Wii has been adjusted very well by Nintendo, and after getting used to it, aiming can be more accurate than any console shooter (I like the highest sensitivity on MP3).

It probably won't come to PC for a while though....

But it's OK since I got it for 360 and have the Orange Box on PC to keep my busy there. Also, if it's Windows Vista only, which it probably is, then I'm not getting it. I'm determined to try to stay with XP until the next Windows comes out, because of how bad Vista is.

What are you nuts? Why the hell would anyone want to play Halo 3 on the PC? As soon as you remove Halo 3 from the console it immediately transform into a below average shooter. Talk about a small fish in an ocean of sharks. PC games like UT3, or any of the big three PC shooters totally crush Halo 3. In fact if it weren't for trademark issues any decent moding group can make carbon copy, if not a superior, Halo 3 experience from the Source engine without breaking a sweat.

Any PC optimized shooter will play better on PC versus analog, heh..

But if you have/are getting a 360, waiting 2 years isn't worth it.

Thank you Cpt Obvious. Whats your point? Every FPS play better on the PC but that doesn't mean any sane person would want to play Halo on the PC. Halo is a piece of crap compared to other PC games. In case you didn't noticed Halo is huge on the console for a reason. I'm not going to spell it out because "if you call yourself a gamer", you should know this.

Its pretty clear that you have no idea what you're talking about. That or you have no point, other than Halo running better on the PC, which is as informative as the sky being blue.

You could go back to reading my post beyond the first sentence for starters, but seeing how you need to be spoon feed I'll spell it out for you. Because Halo 3 doesn't exist on in a freaking vaccum on the PC where there are superior shooters already crowding the scene, and thats just today. In about two or a year and half time when Halo 3 MIGHT be out, games like CoD 4, UT 3, Quake Wars, Crysis, and god knows what will be around. By then whatever passing interest you have in Halo 3 will fade and your precious PC version of Halo 3 will be ignored by you and everyone else. Hence my question.

i strongly disagree i doubt microsoft will wait that long too release halo 3 on pc, there is a huge base of halo fans that dont own xbox's me being one because my computer is 10x better than any 360, and for one a few current release pc titles such as crysis already **** all over halo 3, and imagine what we'll be seeing on pc in the next two years, i for one wouldnt even bother buying halo 3 for pc in two years (and im sure others agree), and that would mean microsoft and bungie would miss out on a huge profit.. i doubt two such succesfull business's would make such a poor decison.. i guess we'll have too wait too see if im right or not.

I would imagine so. Though, now that Bungie is independent, perhaps they'll devote more time to the PC version. Not to mention they're burdened by the next Halo game, since the series is "over."

HALO 3 for PC is not even in development yet. Bungie Studios have confirmed that, they are not yet developing this game for PC. We know Development of games take couple of years, So even if they start developing it today. It will still take a long time for it to release. I don't have much hopes for this game to come on PC.

A Halo 3 PC version would be a port more than a "developed" game remember, it was developed on the 360 which is similar to a PC. Should be a whole lot less work to convert it (probably throw in some extras or new maps/modes though to increase the warranting of a new purchase for existing owners). I think the Halo series is decent, but overhyped. The story is only "good", too few weapons (c'mon, there's like 8 weapons, 4 for each race in Halo 2, look at Perfect Dark or Timesplitters and their 3 dozen), the single player is only "good", and the controls are only "workable". Still a good game but not the god of FPS's like many make it seem IMO.

Bah. I cant wate for Halo 3. Hell, I dont own a Vista, and I play Halo 2 on my XP. I like the storyline. But there are many reasons to get the PC versons, and wate, than get the consol versions.

I'd say its woth wateing for Halo 3 for pc. You can garentee that it WILL be better.

That is the most important thing in my opinion the PC has over consoles.  You can make your own mods and maps and stuff like that, I know you can download some on consoles, but modding is way better on the computer, and it would be really cool if one day you could do that for consoles as well, even just transport them over or something. (maybe you can, I don't know)

But halo for the computer?  Nope.. I don't even like halo.

I don't understand all of the halo hate in this thread - the controls on the console version are fine; maybe you just need to adjust the look sensitivity to better suit your playing style.

I don't hate it because of controls, i just hate everything else about it lol.   I'm not into it at all.   I don't want start anything, I just never liked halo.

thats fine if you genuinally dont like the game; each to his own and all. I just hate people who **** on halo just because its a popular microsoft exclusive.

thats fine - it just riles me up the wrong way when others, unlike yourself say "halo is overrated lol" when they haven't even played it; just to discredit one of the only major franchises microsoft has.

I agree, also. it would really just be some control changes, and more than likely importing the games-for-windows-LIVE features.  Since the original xbox is mearly a pc with microsofts xbox operating system on it.  And the 360 is the same with a modified version of that operating system and faster hardware.  The PC version would not take long at all.  Microsoft is waiting.  I just want them to make the halo movie =) costs too much my ass, they're microsoft

I say 2009/2010 release. There have already been a few hints of it coming soon. It will come to help boast and support Games for Windows Live service at some point when Microsoft is ready to release a client and let PC gamers have Games 4 Windows Live.
