ps3 freezing after update

no matter what game i play since update it keeps freezing anyone else having same problem?

What update?

FW 2.17, just came out maybe an hour or so ago.

It's a bug fix firmware. I haven't played any games since updating so I wouldn't know, but two of my friends are on COD without problems.

I am not having any problems.  That sucks man

There seems to be casualties after ever updates, I never had any problems though.

mine froze 2 days after having, while 2 years with my 360 and it hasnt......thats what i call ironic

thats scary.. Im not updating till i hear some more news about this :S

yeah...i am sensing a little fanboyism...anyways....yeah hopefully it stops. Did you have any freezing issues before the update?

Because even though it wasn't that often for me, it more so at certain times.

like just right after update got on cod4 and was playing multiplayer when it just started freezing up then it just stayed frozen could still hear gunfire and stuff.

ut3 froze up and screen went black

those only 2 games i played right after  i got it updated but waited a while went back on had no problems.
not really sure what happened with ps3 maybe it just got to hot or something was just a bit woried about it at first never had any problems with ps3 until then and hopefully won't have anymore problems.

gosh i was kinda disappointed with sony they could have snuck something cool in with that ps3 update but they didn't like just anything.

i'll have to try some games later on. hopefully this is an isolated issue. my PS3 has only froze 3 times since i got it at launch. *knocks on wood*

I've had one or two freezes, both with that crap horrible insanely boring game Warhawk, which I sold and is out of my sight.

lol, a nub comes in just to say this? How curious.

@snoop: the freezing isn't what bothered me (that was rare anyway), I guess I just don't like the idea of online only, and I felt the game was somewhat limited in arsenal, flight just wasn't interesting enough for me, although it was mildly entertaining.

As for COD4 freezing problems, I hear of this a lot, so I actually wouldn't worry until and unless someone's PS3 fails to read discs.

Did you try turning it off completely and unhooking everything then put it all back together?  I haven't done the update as of yet so I'm not to sure.  Only game that froze on me was Oblivion and that was only once.

did someone say i was a fanboy for bringing up 360 in a ps3 thread? please, give me a break! not my fault i enjoy my gaming and have all three, if i want to mention the 360 in the same sentance as ps3 i can.

now back to topic im downloading now so will let people know

nah right after the update i played dmc4 and warhawk and had no problems at all.if anything my ps3 was at a cooler temp after.and no problems when folding home either.

  

all my games seem to be running just fine! I wouldn't really worry about the update being harmful.

you really have to play warhawk a good amount of times to really appreciate that game.  Its truly awesome, i could use some more updates, maybe completely new vehicles.

no.. ive played mlb 08 and cod4 and some warhawk and no issues here, so uh.. i dunno whats all the hub bub about.

Flying in Warhawk midly entertaining??? i would like to play some flying games that you play.  I think the flying is freaking awesome, loop de lous around bridges, turboing to the back of a mountain then hovering, waiting for pursuer to pass you, engage flight mode and let the missles fly, i think its very very fun,

So what if somebody's a fan of their console....so what if it bothers you?
 
Both the 360 & PS3 have their issues, get over it!
 
......and I've not noticed any problems, except PS3 version of Half Life 2; episode one appears even more juddery in it's frame rate since this update, still enjoyable though.

well, i tried a few games after the update and my ps3 never froze. you could try reverting the PS3 to default and see if it helps. i think this is an isolated issue since i don't hear about it all over the internet. good luck man.
